Tinca Sticks - A Blast From The Past !!!!

Image
Here are some more floats I haven't made in an age  These three " Tinca Sticks " More traditional then my current offerings these are designed for tench fishing, usually at close quarters but these three are much longer so they can be used for general fishing. Made from reed & cane with red/green tips,  black and white segments, plus black gold and violet whipping. I cut my float making teeth in this style of float  and enjoyed making these so much I made another two, slightly different from these but you will have to wait to them 😉 Lets.hope these three catch plenty of fish. A Team Of Carp Stalkers

Image
Here we have a five float set of  Carp Stalkers. All taking around 3 BB these floats are, once more, made of Sarkanda reed and are day glow fluorescent pink/ red apart from one which is made with day glow yellow. The pink/red stalkers are finished in gold, black and violet threads. The yellow stalker is finished in gold, black, violet and crimson threads. All designed for fishing close quarters / down the side in shollow water mainly for carp but will definitely have a place in my tench armoury also. I think he next time I make some of these they will be self cockers. Note to self, I must get some more fish & float pictures with these floats this season. ( Difficult when I mainly fish rivers.....lol ) TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1       Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!

Large Glow In The Dark Carp Stalkers

Image
Ready to go. . . . . . . .  This quartet of  " Large Glow In The Dark Carp Stalkers " are again made of reed. (one of my fav.materials at the moment) All floats are finished in black, gold, turquoise and violet thread. These four floats take approximately 3AAA and are an ideal for slightly larger baits such as small pellet and bread fishing, also, if you are a river angler like myself they are ideal for short to medium distance river work on slow to medium paced rivers with a variety of baits. Great for the witching hour when the light is fading and you want that extra time fishing into the darkness. Black Banded Wagglers

Image
I think I have only made this style of waggler once before. Made of reed these three wagglers are finished with red and orange fluorescent painted tips & separated with a black band. Threads used are black gold and purple. The black band is to indicate lift bites when a pale sky is reflected on the waters surface. The tips of these floats always look slightly odd to me but I do like them and they work a treat !!!! A Quartet Of Stained Trotters

Image
Fresh off the turner is this quartet of trotters, Two Shallow Water Stick Floats & Two Roach Avons. Stained in dark oak with grey and black whippings, fluorescent red and orange paint for the tips and aluminium stems. I have wanted to finish these for ages but just havent had the time. I love the look of these and feel I should have tried the staining affect years ago. I think I will experiment with some stains in the near future. Even though I say so myself these shallow sticks are fantastic in shallow, turbulent waters. 😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1        Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

New Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quills

Image
Apologies to all. I have been off the fishing seen for a few months due to family and work commitments. Below are a prial of  " Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quills " These are slightly different than the first set.  Great for medium to close quarters fishing for tench and carp. These floats charge up by leaving them in the sun or shining an LED light on them for a while. They work by absorbing UV light , storinging the the energy, then giving the energy off slow as light giving you the glow in the dark affect. I love making these quills but don't often do so. I must admit ....... I have made another one of these for my own collection. 😉 TTFN   Peanut.

Grayling Fishing On Shallow Water Stick Floats

Image
Trying out my new Shallow Water Stick Floats has been over due. I fancied catching a few grayling so sorted out a few shallow rigs, got my maggots and bread prepared, loaded up the car and hit the road. Now.......I have not had much luck wader wise on this river...... The first time I fell in head first, tripping over an un-seen submerged boulder !!! The second time I discovered I had a hole in my waders and one leg was soaked all day long. This time I had new waders on but it didn't stop me getting a freezing cold wet leg in the first five minutes !!!!!! Note to self...... DON'T BUY CHEAP WADERS !!!!!  As I stood mid river I should see the tell tale ripples and bubbles of trout and grayling taking flies from the surface, so, plenty of fish in the swim I thought. I was fishing with an 8 no 4s shallow water stick float with a fluorescent red tip, easily visible under the overhanging sycamore trees. It took around fifteen minutes for my first fish, a l
