A Team Of Carp Stalkers

Here we have a five float set of 
Carp Stalkers.
All taking around 3 BB these floats are, once more, made of Sarkanda reed and are day glow fluorescent pink/ red apart from one which is made with day glow yellow.
The pink/red stalkers are finished in gold, black and violet threads.
The yellow stalker is finished in gold, black, violet and crimson threads.
All designed for fishing close quarters / down the side in shollow water mainly for carp but will definitely have a place in my tench armoury also.
I think he next time I make some of these they will be self cockers.
Note to self, I must get some more fish & float pictures with these floats this season.
( Difficult when I mainly fish rivers.....lol )

Lathe Made Pike Bobber - First Effort. . . .😊

This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. River Wye Day 2 - 01.07.2024

Morning all. Both John and I where off to a new stretch of the river today. Our chosen destination was the Wye Lee stretch of the River Wye near the bridge pillers. We arrived to find ourselves the first people there so had the pick of the pegs. John already new where he was gonna fish as did I due to short recce the night before. John was in the the first peg next to the pillers. A bit of a boilly, washing machine peg due to all the sub-surface obstructions. It looked very "Barbely" but he may well loose some end tackle. A bonus John had was we had witnessed a barbel capture from there the night previous so at least we new the were in the vacinity. It had been very warm the past week. I had my suspicions the barbel may still be spawning, or at least cleaning off in the fast water. My choice of run was a double croy. A croy is something like a jetty of rocks, man made, in this case, heading out into the river to about 40 feet. A double croy has the same jetty of rocks mirrore...
