Image
If you are a fisherman especially a pike fisherman from Manchester this kid needs no introduction. " Kayden McCarthy " Is a member of Salford Friendly Anglers and  an exceptional young Pike angler. Like all young keen fisheman he is on the banks more than most adults and as we all know only too well........ location is key !!!!!!!!! In the last few years Kayden has caught some massive crocs from the inner Manchester canal systems. At the Salford Friendly Anglers Christmas doo after Kayden has won the " Fish Of The Year "  competition For the second time. ( A feet un-acheived by any adults I might add ) I thought I would ask his opinion on a new pike float I had made. As I showed him his eyes lit up . . . " You can have this if you like m8 " I added, glad I could help the lad out. " Mike, its lovely, but, for the canal . . . . Its . . . . . . TOO LONG . . . " we both said laughing in unison. Pike Slider - A Manchester Christening.

Today I was heading to an SFA section of the Rochdale Canal, not to fish but to deliver a pair of Pike Sliders to their new owner.😁 http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/large-revesable-sliding-feather-inlay.html?m=1 I know this section of the the canal reasonable well as I used to work right next to it but I have never fished it for Pike. I smiled and said " Ok mate your on "  The boys were struggling to be honest but they still had another hour and a half of light left to get a hook up. Four r

This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. With a little more practise I feel I can get this pattern looking a much better. This is how it looks now. What do you think ? 😊 Any constructive criticism is always welcome. Until the next time . . .   TTFN . . . . Peanut. If you would like to look at all of the hand crafted floats I make pleas
