A BaldEagal - A Chub - And A Little Jigg. I have been fishing and drinking with John Doran AKA Baldeagal on and off for over 30 years, so, we are good mates as well fishing buddies. Today on The Chub Peg. In the Welcome Pub - Whitefield. From Left To Right, Me, Eagal & Horlicks. I love the Irwell even though its bloody hard going. Eagle gets out on it in the winter months sometimes but he hasn' t been on for a while - think he was a bit jealous of the chub I have bagged this season to be honest.....lol, anyway, I received a text off the Eagle saying he was going to have a dangle on the River Irwell for the chub. He had a two hour window to bag one. Not a lot of time but enough to have a good go at one peg.  I was a little late arriving at Eagles peg - I was on a Black Opps session for the pike in the reservoir above the river. Hand Made Wagglers and Sliders. Well fellas, The Mrs is non to happy with me to say the least. I have been a bad lad on the beer front  and am in the doghouse for the foreseeable future !!!!!! On a brighter note I have been a busy little peanut trying to make up some large wagglers / sliders from scratch. Its not as easy as it sounds but i think I may have found some decent media to make them with. My first attempts are for Sliders / Jumbo Wagglers for Salford Quays & the River Mersey. Jesus 38 cms long..........suppose I could always spear them..........LOL Currently using stainless steel wire wrapped around like a figure 8. A beaded snap swivel will be add to that for the finished product. Next I will try stepped and then bodied wagglers. I will keep you all informed......I haven't even tested if they float yet........May be I should have tested that first .....pmsl. I really enjoyed making these floats. I haven't done

Pike Fishing - Black Opps - Breaking The Surface... Had a one hour window to catch a pike for my Breakingthesurface Rod Race point. Mission - not to get caught of the Mrs.........LOL In true Black Opps fasion nothing went by the numbers. I got to the res and left my rubber shads at home.........DOOW... I then walk up to the hill and realised I had left my landing net in the mighty Megan. ????...... DOUBLE DOOW When I eventually got to the top of the hill it was brilliant sun shine and the water was gin clear. Got my reliable Aldi spoon out of my spinner box. (The only lures I had brought with me and tried a few tentative chucks not really expecting much.  I was already thinking about parents evening with my son at Holly Cross College when, on my second cast..........WOLLOP my 10 g lure rod hoofed round and the clutch on my Shimano 1010 screamed......bloody sh*t my pants I kid you not.............................. 5 mins later the fist pike of the season
