 Hi all, Here are some additions for my trip to the Wye next summer. The floats below are  "5AAA Hardwood Stem Irwell Sicks" Finished in balsa with a harwood stem, black / gold threads with charcoal, white paints plus fluorescent orange tips. I have made the above for swims with a more powerful flow than normal and are capable of suspending big pieces of bread meat and paste and will be a welcome addition to mine and Johns float box. Hi all, I was recently asked to make a set of 20 no 4 (4g) Shouldered Alloy Stick Floats for a trip on the River Itchen in the coming weeks. The floats are to be used for long trotting fishing six feet plus on some runs. Because of the distance these floats will be fished at I have kept the tips as wide as I possible could, flaring the taper out just before the shoulder, initially giving a wider tip before turning the shoulder/tip. As requested the floats were stained to a dark oak finish with fluorescent orange tips plus a white collar. Black, crimson and rose gold were the threads colours used for this build. Hopefully I will soon see a plump agrayling next to one of these floats which reminds me, I must blow the cobwebs of my river gear and go fishing as I have not graced a river bank yet this season 😲😲😲😲 !!!!! Hi all, I have been after a light roving box for quite some time now but could never decide on which one to buy........plus they are nearly £200 😲😲😲😲😲 After finishing some ........ Loaded Antenne Bodied Wagglers for my mate  "The Casterman"  he said....... " Don't buy one lad".  "I have just what you need here.....the bits anyway".  "I've been meaning to make one out of all the bits I have accumlated over the years"......Lol. I have been using an old Shakespeare Box which is very light but a little cumbersum to carry and I do miss my Octoplus type gadgets, although I will need some 25mm fittings. I was over the moon we he said he could sort me out with one. PM me  If anyone has accessores for 25mm square legs. I will happily meet up and swap for an avon float hand made by myself.  Morning all, This pattern is a float I myself do not use very often and have made only twice before I think as I prefer silver fishing with a stick float or avon but if you are a specimen angler its a great float to suspend big baits in fast water. The set of five floats below all take approximately 6 swan shot or 9.6g in new money. There are a few swims on the Ribble where I could be persuaded to don a chubber instead of a stick float. Andy Boyne has pointed out a couple of swims on the ribble where this pattern will be at home. I think I will incorporate some specimen float fishing sessions into my fishing next season just to se what I can catch.  Morning all, A new paint job on the.... Small Alloy Stem Avons this week. I recently found a couple of cans of paint in the lock up which have been discontinued. Both are colours I really like...... Gothic metallic burgandy and purple. A small check was in order to see if these paints were still stable and ok to use then I added a couple of coats to the floats and finished the build. It's a shame I can not get any more of these paints, especially, if you are like me and you sometimes like a little bit of bling on your floats!!!!! Made mainly for finicky feeding roach on slow to medium pace rivers at close range, but, these floats can also double up as a commecial close range carp float when fishing the margins as I will be showing in a few weeks time. All these floats have balsa bodies, alloy stems and neutral densisty hardwood tips.  Hi all, My next floats are an another avon offering, this time in patrioic red, white and blue. There are so many variations of the avon I think I could be here a while!!!!!! Rocking in at approximately 5g these floats are designed for smaller baits such as maggot and casters in deeper water for silver fish.
