Sliding Perch Bobber With A Feather Inlay.

Image
Hi all. I do not make perch bobbers as often as I would like, especially the sliding veriety. Well, today is the exception !!!! Below is what is left of a pair of.... Sliding, Feather Inlay, Perch Bobbers in blue with black and gold whippings plus a fluoro red/pink tip. The other float without the inlay will be kept as a user as I had an accident lacquering it !!!!  (It happens to us all) 🙄 A week later I have actually managed to save the float mentioned but, alas, the inlay had to be removed but I am still happy with the finished product nevertheless. 😁 The stem is hollow to enable the float to be used as in internal sliding float. I have added spiral whipping which is something I don't often do, it just seemed the right thing to do at the time so I went with it.  The feather was a no brainer and had to be a Jay feather, all the colour combinations demanded it !!!! 😊 There we have it... Lets hope I actually get out to fish some time soon !!!!! TTFN      Peanut. Please subscrib

Grayling Bobbers

Image
I was asked to make some  grayling bobbers  for a friend.  I have to be honest and say there is not much difference between these and my standard  perch bobbers accept that the stems are weighted to help with casting and to present the bait properly in running water. These are finished in fluorescent red / pink and orange with black, gold and purple thread plus a jay feather for decoration. I hope you like them. 😁 The smaller bobbers take around 3 AAA. The larger, orange grayling bobber takes around 6AAA TTFN   Peanut.      If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1        Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!    http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

A Date With Some Yorkshire Ladies. 😉

Image
To day was the day that myself and Salford Pete were heading off over to the wrong side of the hills, up the M67 and over to Yorkshire. Our target for the day were  Yorkshire Ladies . . . .  Ladies if the stream that is . . . . .  Otherwise known as. . . . . GRAYLING !!!!!!!! Being born and bred Mancunians grayling are a foreign species to us and, unfortunately neither of us have bagged one on our travels.  ( Well. . . . . I have had one from Lymm Vale but I don't count still water grayling ) We were meeting a friend of mine and a new member of my float making group on face book, Jordan O'Halloran, a local Yorkshire lad with bags of knowledge regarding ladies. 😉😉😉😉😉😉 ( Dont tell the Mrs.... 🤣 ) We met around 08.00 on the River Don. Unfortunately, the river was high, coloured and pushing through at a fair old rate of knots. Not the best grayling conditions but this trip was planned months ago so we all decided to give it a go. Fluorescent Red Mini - Porcupine Quill Bobber .

Image
I love the look of these porcupine stemmed bobbers.  This is the second one I have made now and have really enjoyed making it. I can imagine my grandad using one of these on the River Eden bait fishing for trout where allowed. This traditional style bobber has a balsa body, a porcupine quill stem and a brass eye. The threads are black and violet and the paints are plain white and fluorescent pink / red. At home on the river trotting for grayling or in a lake for perch.  These floats are quite versatile and can be used to fish for a number of species. Margin fishing for carp is another popular use. I have a trip soon on which I am targeting grayling, a fish that has eluded me all these years.  Hopefully this float will be fully dry so I can get a traditional fish and float picture. If not.......... I have my childhood bobber on stand by.  😊 Lets hope the weather holds out Jordan. Until the next time. . . . .  TTFN Peanut. If
