Summer Camo.Avons-5BB--New Paint Job

Image
Hi all, I had a few spare bodies staring at me in my blank box over the last few months. In December I finally had a few hours spare to try out a new paint job. (New to me anyway) A few test cards later and some frustrated attempts I decided on three colours to play with, Eath Brown, Hunter Green & Canary Yellow plus Standard White and Fluorescent Orange, all of which I made myself. I kept the threads simple using only two, Yellow/gold and black. There are eight of these floats in total, all in balsa and with hardwood stems. Here is a short video of one float which shows it in great detail. I was expecting to ruin a few floats but luckily I didn't, also, I was not sure about the paint job initially as I usually like things crisp and precise which is the opposite of what I was trying to achieve with these floats, but, for a first attempt, I am rather please with the results. The Avons below have the same diameter balsa body, but, are heavier than the previous Alloy Stem Avons a

A Prial Of Inserted Sarkanda Wagglers

I have had another crack at this pattern using a few different threads. Black ,gold, violet and a new addition to my thread box. . . . . " Metallic grey " 😁 I have another half a dozen of these on the go with slightly different thread colours which should be ready at the beginning if the new year. I was not to sure how the metallic grey thread would work out but it looks good to me.... What do you think ? A prial of 5 BB " Ivory Avons " Sporting balsa bodies plus cane tips & stems. The tips are all fluorescent day glow orange and the threads used were black violet and gold. I quiet like the look of these and will be making a few more in various colours in the near future both with cane and alloy stems. One is for  " The Casterman " Lets hope he can get me some fish and float pictures. 😁 TTFN Peanut. A Prial Of New Carp Stalkers

Image
I am fixated on these small floats at the moment.  " Carp Stalkers "  are a simple enough float to make but the simplicity in their shape gives the maker much more scope for decoration. The three floats below will take approximately 4 BB and are best fished down the side or up in the water. The Glow In The Dark Yellow has a prial of vibrant scarlet wraps, a purple tag with golden spirals and black tippets.  The " Day Glow Purple " Stalker has a prial of violet wraps, which is the same colour as my standard purple tag. Finally " Day Glow Orange " Stalker is a new addition. It has a prial of orange wraps and a violet tag and is finished as the two previous floats with golden spirals and black tippets. I really like the look of these three and the colour combinations are endless. I think I have done these floats a dis-service as by calling them " Carp Stalkers " as they are a great all round float for m

A Date With Some Yorkshire Ladies. 😉

Image
To day was the day that myself and Salford Pete were heading off over to the wrong side of the hills, up the M67 and over to Yorkshire. Our target for the day were  Yorkshire Ladies . . . .  Ladies if the stream that is . . . . .  Otherwise known as. . . . . GRAYLING !!!!!!!! Being born and bred Mancunians grayling are a foreign species to us and, unfortunately neither of us have bagged one on our travels.  ( Well. . . . . I have had one from Lymm Vale but I don't count still water grayling ) We were meeting a friend of mine and a new member of my float making group on face book, Jordan O'Halloran, a local Yorkshire lad with bags of knowledge regarding ladies. 😉😉😉😉😉😉 ( Dont tell the Mrs.... 🤣 ) We met around 08.00 on the River Don. Unfortunately, the river was high, coloured and pushing through at a fair old rate of knots. Not the best grayling conditions but this trip was planned months ago so we all decided to give it a go.
