New Feather Inlay Float Tube

Image
I am still getting the hang of tube making. Here is my latest offering. Tube No5. This treble banded and double feather inlayed float tube is made from pine with a brass tag cap on the lid plus brass centring pins and latches The tubes measurements are as follows : EXTERNAL = 290 mm by 60 mm INTERNAL  = 240mm by 40 mm Hopefully I will be moving on to more exotic woods in the near future. Again, I would like to stress.....none of this would be possible without the help and guidance of my father. Whenever I have a lathe issue he is always there with and answer, modifying tools, researching new methods etc. Thanks a lot dad ...... Your help is invaluable. 😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1        Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

Straight River Wagglers

Image
I just found a pair of river wagglers I hand left un-finished from last year. Both in Sarkanda and fluoro orange. A few coats of lacquer and . . . .  Bingo. 😁😁😁 New floats ....lol Note the elongated tip colour to aid bite indication when dragging the the bottom. 😉 TTFN   Peanut.

Two Tone, Painted, Inserted Wagglers

Image
Another float I have had in my minds eye for some years is the one below. Made with sarkanda and cane these  Inserted Wagglers have been a thorn in my side for a while. Why? Because I new I could do better than the final results I had achieved up until now !!!!!!!! However, I am very happy with the design below, and I am pleased to say this particular float has passed quality control..... lol 🤣 This waggler has a white central band, threads used are black, gold, violet, and crimson. The pearlescent metallic paint use is Gothic purple. Made mainly for maggot caster and hemp fishing this float was a real pain to get right initially but I think the results speak for themselves. What do you think? I am very pleased with this design and honestly do not think I can achieve better results with my current skill set. Adding a decal instead of writing on the float was a possibility I had thought of but have steered clear of decals up until now p

New Inserted wagglers

Image
I was recently asked to make a very specific set of ...... Inserted Wagglers. These are by no means ground breaking but, over the years I have found it he little changes in your set up that help with bite detection. This change was a simple one and its all about the tip. Away with the white band, all the tip colour is in fluorescent red/pink with a central black band of 75mm.  This contrast in colour will ensure any small lifts are detected when fishing a venue with a white surface. Taking around 2AA these are mainly for still water silver fish and tench using maggot, caster and hemp. I hope you all like them.  TTFN   Peanut.
