Alloy Stem Avons In Slate Grey and Green - 8g

Image
Morning all, I've finished off some more floats for the Trent 2025  this morning. Alloy Stem Avons In Slate Grey- 8g. Made with balsa bodies, alloy stems The paints used were slate grey & green with white & fluorescent pink tips plus black and gold threads. There are quite a few of us going next year, some I know, some don't so hopefully I will make some new fishing buddies this time.  😊 Big baits are the order of the day for these floats, meat ,paste, pellet, bread, boilie etc. I use these these in-line weights when fishing a bulk down the line. The weights are are easily interchangeable if needed. I have never fished the Trent before, Gunthorpe area so I will have lots to learn and hopefully catch a few fish, friends and memories on the way.  We will probably be making a few day trips before the main event to get a feel for the river.....a good excuse....lol. 😉 We are all looking forward to it very much. Inverted Alloy Stem Avons, Blue & Stained, 50:50 with fine tips.

Afternoon All, I have thrown myself back into float making after a few weeks off and have just completed multiple sets of . . . . . . "Alloy Stem Avons, Blue & Stained, 50:50 with fine tips". I have made these with balsa, hardwood and alloy for the stems. Made in three different sizes: 5BB - 1.6g. 3AAA - 2.4g, 5AAA - 4.0g. The two larger patterns should cover most of my roach fishing on slower, deeper rivers. The smaller one is around 5BB so will be a general float for lots of river situations.   TTFN . . . . Peanut. Large Tipped Mini Grey Alloy Stem Avons

Image
Hi all, I have just finished a set of.. "Large Tipped Mini Grey Alloy Stem Avons" I have made these for fishing spate rivers along the shallow gravel runs, but any shallow medium paced river with not too much depth and these floats should do nicely. Colours used are Slate Grey & Charcoal Grey with fluorescent pink & orange tips, a white collars and finish with black and gold whippings. If you have been following my blog you will know there was an extraordinary outcome of the first few hours when trialing these floats, not to mention one or two heated comments on my local clubs Face Book page about O.O.S. Brown Trout captures....... Anyway..... The first few fish captured were my target fish, lovely Irwell Grayling caught in 3 feet of water. A very swift an pleasing outcome to the maiden voyage of this pattern. 😁 After that well, this leviathan rocked up..... and it was a whole different ball game for about 20 minutes. 😲 8lb Wild Brown Trout Hit the link for the ful...

River Irwell PB On A New Mini- Alloy Stem Avon

Image
Hi all, I had a short session to test some Mini-Alloy Stem Avons out this morning and ... BOY.......AM I GLAD I DID !!!!!! I hoped down to the SFAs stretch of the Irwell to hopfully grab some grayling pictures with my new trotters. It was a smash and grab raid as I was taking out  T.O.W.M.B.O. (THE ONE WHO MUST BE OBAYED) out for an early Valentines Dinner. (So Im frantically witting this blog as Dudds has put me under some considerable pressure to get it to you tonight) 😆 I got up late to throw a spanner in the works as well. I managed a few coats of paint on some other floats I am currently making then it was off to the river. I had a few grayling within the first ten minutes so my pictures were in the bag early doors. 😁 I checked my pictures and concluded they where what I was after and therefore could now relax for the next hour, enjoying the peace of being out in the fresh air as the new avon meandered along then bobed under  "Hmm another lady I thought"...... the...
