Purplepeanut007 PP007 FLOAT MAKING & FISHING ADVENTURES - THE RIVER IRWELL AND BEYOND.

 Morning everyone, I am back making some more heavy river floats. All are made from balsa in the new chocolate brown, 6 x 10g (6 Swan +) Avons with Alloy Stems, a 1x7g Heavy Fluted Avon with an alloy stem and finally a 1x4g (5AAA) Crow Quil Avon, a first for me belive it or not !!! Paints used were white, fluorescent red/orange and chocolate brown. Theads used were red, black, purple and Blush gold. Mainly for the rivers  Trent and Wye this year. The Futted and Crow Quil Avons with get a little more use, especially the Crow Quill Avon as it is of a weight to be used more regularly on most of the rivers I fish. Until the next time……….  Morning all, I have just completed a pair of  Fluted Slate Grey Avons comimg in at 4.8g which are lighter than I wanted but as they say....its all a learning curve!!! 😊 I do enjoy making these even if they do take more time and effort. There is just something about the way they look that keeps you coming back for more. Made with balsa bodies, alloy stems The paints used were slate grey with white & fluorescent pink tips plus black and gold thread. Hopefully, this pair will be trundelling down the Trent next year after barbel & chub.  These floats will be paired with an Harrison 14foot SU float road and a Youngs, Bob James Centerpin. I have just started carving another pair. I think I will try a goose quill as tip material for this pair. Until the next time………. TTFN Peanut.  Morning all, I have just finished two new floats. "Inverted Teardrop, Alloy Stem Avons" Taking approximately 3 no 4s (0.6 g) for light river work. I have made these mainly for my own interest as I have never seen this combination before and thought it may suit the way I fish when after silvers using a closed face reel in blustery conditions, hopfully, stopping/reducing the need for back shotting and enabling tighter control of the the line/float.....we shall see!!!! Raw materials used were balsa and alloy for the stem with charcoal, white and fluorescent orange paints, finished with black whippings. Below are a couole of comparison picture showing the size of the smaller, wire stem floats to the larger wooden stem floats. TTF PS: I managed to finish another one this morning.  😊      Peanut.
