New Glow In The Dark Double Ended Pike Pencil

Image
Hi all, I haven't made any pike floats in a very long time. So was pleased when I was asked to create a new slider based on a float I set asided many years ago. The original float the slider is based on is a double ended, reversible pike pencil with brass eyes which I have just completed. The new pike slider float is a straight through float designed to be fished flat, at depth and made from balsa. These floats are also reversible so each colour give the user options in different light conditions. The slider floats are still under construction but I have just completed the original double ended, eyed pencil style float and is pictured below. Paints used are glow in the dark yellow and fluorescent pink plus a brass eye. Only black thread was used in the construction of this version. Inverted Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quill.

Image
I have been meaning to make one of these floats for a while but just never got round to it. Well,  I have had plenty of time in the last few weeks and made the float below. It is a very simple design showing off as much of the quill as possible but obviously glows in the dark to enable me to fish into the darkness. This pattern may be a more tradition version of my " Sneaky Lifter Float " I will need to test and see how the lift bits are indicated but I am fairly confidant that it will perform well.  I just hope it won't be a long wait. Positioned next to a pair of standard  "Glow In The Dark Quills"  the difference in tip diameter is plain to see, therefore, sensitivity is increased. This pattern would also be a great roach float in medium to slow rivers and I will be trying it  out on the River Ribble or Derwent when the season opens. Glow In The Dark example pictures. I will have a few more larger versions...

Glow In The Dark Tinca Sticks

Image
Another version of the tench floats I make are the  " Glow In The Dark Tinca Sticks " They are the same float as the standard tinca sticks but with glow in the dark paint applied to the tips, very useful when you just need an extra few hours fishing into the darkness. As per the previous floats these tinca sticks are made from reed & cane but with yellow glow in the dark yellow, black segments plus black gold and violet whipping. As can be seen below these also work for shy bitting Crucian Carp as well as Carp & Tench. Large Glow In The Dark Carp Stalkers

Image
Ready to go. . . . . . . .  This quartet of  " Large Glow In The Dark Carp Stalkers " are again made of reed. (one of my fav.materials at the moment) All floats are finished in black, gold, turquoise and violet thread. These four floats take approximately 3AAA and are an ideal for slightly larger baits such as small pellet and bread fishing, also, if you are a river angler like myself they are ideal for short to medium distance river work on slow to medium paced rivers with a variety of baits. Great for the witching hour when the light is fading and you want that extra time fishing into the darkness. New Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quills

Image
Apologies to all. I have been off the fishing seen for a few months due to family and work commitments. Below are a prial of  " Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quills " These are slightly different than the first set.  Great for medium to close quarters fishing for tench and carp. These floats charge up by leaving them in the sun or shining an LED light on them for a while. They work by absorbing UV light , storinging the the energy, then giving the energy off slow as light giving you the glow in the dark affect. I love making these quills but don't often do so. I must admit ....... I have made another one of these for my own collection. 😉 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1        Join our club......Its FREE ...
