Centerpin Newbie Carp Fishing

Image
Morning all, I have been promising a work colleague Dan that I would take him fishing the last few months. Last night we were both able to finish at a similar time and head off to the lake for an dangle in the sunshine. Unfortunately, due to unforseen circumstances, Dan was unable to start the session with me but promised to meet up around 20.00 at the lake. To save time I told Dan he could use my setup when he arrive to save some time. I had a quite couple of hours to be honest with just three carp and some silvers and was looking forward to talking Dan through the simplist form of pin fishing, (To me anyway) which is fishing down the side on bigger baits. Dan has been around a bit the last few years. The last fish he caught was in Cambodia which was a .........He stole the show on that day catching the biggest fish so I new he had some fishing experiance just not on the pin. Dan eventually rocked up at the venue with a smile on his face and eager to fish. We could not have asked...

Smash and Grab Morning Tench Raid.

Afternoon all,  I haven't been fishing since before Christmas !!!!!! but this morning I felt the urge for a tench, so, grabbed some kit and hi-tailed it off to a new tench lake I have just been informed about. My float was a 4BB boddied, lollypop lifter, ideal for short to medium distance in shallowish water. Within 30 minutes, after plenty of bits and a few ide I was into a good tench....a very good one infact but unfortunately, after a few seconds it slipped the hook.... and left me swearing loudly at anyone or thing in the immediate vicinity!!!!! 😆😆😆😆😆 I was gutted.  That was a belting fish!!!! I won't lie.....the next two hours was a struggle.  I was picking up a few bits every know and then but nothing much was happening and I was ready for home. I call off a good friend persuaded me to give it another half an hour....good job really!!!!!!  A change to double worm tipped with red maggot got me into my second tench hook up of the session. I made no mist...

Tench Float - Lollipop Lifter

I found myself staring at a slimline bodied waggler blank I had made over the Christmas period. My memory cast back to when myself and John Derbyshire fished a quiet northern tench lake a few years ago. We used tinca sticks on that occasion but I thought, as the lake was a rather deep one, a bodied waggler would be a nice tool to use next season if we visit. It is quite close quarters fishing on the lake so a sightbob waggler was a little overkill in my opinion so I chose to make something a little different. I have christened it a  " Lollipop  Lifter " as  " Salford Pete said it looked a bit like an ice lolly.....LOL 🤣 Finished with burgundy paint and multiple fluorescent colours, plus gold, black and purple threads. It takes approximately 6 AAA so the bait can get through the greedy perch shoals in the lake...... Anyway....here it its " The Lollipop Lifter " The last float of 2018. 😁 I think I will fish this as a s...
