Straight Still Water Wagglers

Image
While I have been off work I have managed to finish a few on going projects. Here is the latest, Straight Still Water Wagglers. Two red/ pink and one orange. Once more made from reed and finished in pearlescent, metallic purple with black, gold and crimson threads, these will be at home on  natural or commercial still waters suspending larger baits like pellet, corn or bread etc I have included, in the pictures below, an olive green river waggler.  The basic difference between the still water floats and the river floats is the tip length. River floats have longer tip colours for dragging baits on the deck for when a really slow trot is require. River waggler. I need to get some fishing with one of these so I can get a few nice pictures for the blog. A Prial Of New Carp Stalkers

Image
I am fixated on these small floats at the moment.  " Carp Stalkers "  are a simple enough float to make but the simplicity in their shape gives the maker much more scope for decoration. The three floats below will take approximately 4 BB and are best fished down the side or up in the water. The Glow In The Dark Yellow has a prial of vibrant scarlet wraps, a purple tag with golden spirals and black tippets.  The " Day Glow Purple " Stalker has a prial of violet wraps, which is the same colour as my standard purple tag. Finally " Day Glow Orange " Stalker is a new addition. It has a prial of orange wraps and a violet tag and is finished as the two previous floats with golden spirals and black tippets. I really like the look of these three and the colour combinations are endless. I think I have done these floats a dis-service as by calling them " Carp Stalkers " as they are a great all round float for m...

Norfolk Reed Loaded G.I.T.D. Straight Waggler.

Image
I have never worked with  " Norfolk Reed " before. So when I was very kindly offered some from a fellow float maker I was quite eager to have a play. I did, indeed, have a play but unfortunately the float has been left un-fishished for quite a few months. In the last few weeks I have re-visited this little project and finished of the job. It was a pretty straight forward build for me to be honest. I decided to load the this float to aid with balance while casting . It will be fished mid river  in deep water on three wide stretches of the River Ribble, Weaver and the Mersey, may be even the Trent if I get my act together ay Jordan ! 😉 I made the tip extra long so the float can be under shotted, the extra tip length above the water will also help dislodge the hook bait from small snags as it travels down stream along the river bed. I decided to use blue as one of the main thread colours this time plus gold, black and violet. Two feathers were added for ...

Inserted Feather Inlay Wagglers

Image
A set of six inserted wagglers withe day glow pink and yellow tips, all with feather inlays. These tend to be a summer float for me.  I use this patterm for fishing on the drop and up in the water on lakes and rivers. This particular set takes approximately 4AAA plus in weight each to cock the float. Never any stress making these . . . .  In fact its like therapy for me  Lol. Inserted wagglers with Feather Inlays

Image
Inseted Wagglers are great around floats. Most anglers will have used these for years in many different guises Great on still waters or rivers. I will always have a selection of these in my bag. These floats can be used for most situations from pellet and maggot fishing on commercial fisheries to big river fishing I use mine mainly on rivers in the summer fishing up in the water, on the drop with maggots, casters and hemp to tempt silver fish such as roach, dace and chub. The set below has been made in specific sizes and colours for various situations. I hope you like them. A day out on Inserted Wagglers with The Casterman. The full blog. ( an old one ) http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/peanut-vs-casterman-silver-dolla-race.html?m=1 A modest 10 lb catch of river roach I don't mine TOO much when I get schooled off " The Casterman " 😕 16 lb  of roach Never mined the lucky result Derek. The floats wo...
