New Perch Bobbers In Olive Green

Image
Morning all, Another float I dont use enough. The humble perch bobber. I think I am missing out on some specimen perch and chub when fish for silvers in the summer so I am going to use one of these on a sleeper rod while I build up the silver swim. I know the exact couple of pegs I am going to try them on. One is 9 foot deep at your feet so will fish approximately half depth with a small live bait. The other swim is an eddy around 5 foot deep an I take the same approach fishing at half depth. Hopefully I will have somthing to show you all later.on in the year. The prial of floats below are made from balsa with a hard wood stem, olive green and fluorescent orange paints, black and yellow threads plus a hand turned brass eye. John Monaghan tried one of these recently and produced a cracking fish of 2lb 14oz. Nice one John. 👍👍👍👍   All three floats take approximately 4 - 6 AAA depending on bait size. I am looking forward to some fish and float pictures with these floats as it is a met

Mini Driftbeaters....The Christening

Image
Morning all , The day had come to christen our new prototype Mini Driftbeaters. With Salford Pete in tow we arrived at a local venue and set up ready for a days float fishing. I marched off in front to secure our pegs while Salford Pete seemed to take an age to arrive. He was talking and walking slowly to some other bloke I did not recognise. It was only when he got closer did I recognise my old mate  "The Castertman" He popped down to see another mate of his who was also fishing. We had a chat for five minutes then Casterman skipped off stating he would be back when we had both set up and started fishing. Ten minutes later me and the oldman were ready for the all in. I was fishing off the bottom initially to see if I could catch some of the good quality silvers which were present in the lake. The driftbeater was set up with three segments showing plus the sight bob with just one number eight dropshot ten centimeters from the hook. "The Casterman" arrived just as I

True Diftbeaters In Slate Grey

Image
Morning All, These floats have been on my to do list for years but I have never found the time to make them until now. I finally sourced the parts I need and produced the protype a couple of weeks ago. The set below are finished in slate grey with black/gold whippings plus a fluorescent pink sight bob. Coming in at 4BB.....ish these are made for close to medium range fishing using a variety of baits  Salford Pete has one, I have the prototype and I am currently finishing a larger one around 3AAA for myself. I do have plans to make some more larger versions of these floats in the near future, probably 3 & 5AAA Anyway, enough of my rammblings..... Here are the new floats...... 😊 Sound up😊 On the first trial the tench didn't make an appearance but look what did!!!! I must have had about half a dozen of these lovelies either on the drop or using the lift method.  😁 We both caught something else note worthy but I will report that next week. I will be posting a video tomorrow to
