Purplepeanut007 PP007 FLOAT MAKING & FISHING ADVENTURES - THE RIVER IRWELL AND BEYOND.

I have had another crack at this pattern using a few different threads. Black ,gold,violet and a new addition to my thread box. . . . . " Metallic grey " 😁 I have another half a dozen of these on the go with slightly different thread colours which should be ready at the beginning if the new year. I was not to sure how the metallic grey thread would work out but it looks good to me.... What do you think ? I have just finished off a new pair of float tubes. One is a thin version designed for a single pike pencil or a few thin wagglers. The other is a wider version for bobbers and other wider floats. Both tubes are decorated with purple and gold thread plus a purple feather. My tubes are all numbered. This pair are numbers 3 & 4 which is indicated on the brass plaque inlayed on the top of the tubes.   I really have enjoyed making these.  Its a steep learning curve but one I am very much enjoying and have a few more in the pipe line so stay tuned for more in the near future. I try to make a few floats every Christmas for my fishing club " Salford Friendly Anglers " This years offering is a pair of  " Sarkanda Reed Inserted Wagglers " I would have made a few more but time has been tight this year due to my hospital visit, being  Best Man at a wedding in Cyprus  and of course work but at least I have a pair ready for the Christmas raffle. The Christmas meeting starts at  19.30 - 19.45. Its a good night out which I look forward to every year. A prial of 5 BB " Ivory Avons " Sporting balsa bodies plus cane tips & stems. The tips are all fluorescent day glow orange and the threads used were black violet and gold. I quiet like the look of these and will be making a few more in various colours in the near future both with cane and alloy stems. I have been playing with the lathe again. 😁 Below are a prial of  " Irwell Sticks " With feather inlays.   I have quite a few of these at various stages of completion  and have some in my float tube for when I eventually get back on the river. 😁  These floats are best suited for fishing shallow runs for chub, grayling etc. Casterman  aka " Derek Kenyon " has been on the phone reminding me we are long overdue a river session together. For some time now I have wanted to make something to protect my  " Slim Waggler " The obvious choice for me was a float tube, so, with my initial float tube success still fresh in my mind from my first model I was fairly confident I would be able to produce another half decent tube. The new tube below is again made from a single block of pine with brass hinges, violet & gold whippings plus a feather for a little added colour. Tube dimensions are : Length 285mm Internal Diameter 20mm Outside Diameter 35mm The tube has a 20mm hole which fits around seven of my new wagglers, plus, it can double up as a  pike float tube as it fits a single 25 - 30 g pike slider perfectly. 😁 The best thing for me is that I have something a little prettier than an industrial plastic tube to transport my new creations in whilst fishing. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 TTFN Peanut. I am in need of a few Medium Slim Inserted Wagglers for a few Ribble, Mersey and Weaver runs I know so decided to make a few using  Sarkanda Reed. The quartet below take approximately 3AAA in weight and will hopefully put a few roach, the target species, in my keep net. 😁 I used a different thread pattern in the centre of the floats to shake things up a little. I hope you like it. The thread colours used were black, gold and violet. Here is a quick preview of my next float tube to. 😉 I am becoming a big fan of " Sarkanda Reed " and will be making a few more using some different coloured threads just to see if I like it.
