Stepped, Inserted Wagglers With Fine Tips.

 Morning all,

I used Stillwater Blues & Canal Greys almost exclusively in my later school years fishing on Pilsworth Bottom Ponds & Unsworth Fisheries.

Looking back the freedom we had in the 1980's was great.

I used to make a packed lunch, and a flask of coffee just before setting off at 03.00, spend all day on the lake, peddle home, catch the bus to bury to top up my bait and tackle supplies, then repeat. I wish I could do that now!!!!!  

May be when retirement arrives!!!!!

lol.

Anyway, back to the floats ....

The next three floats are a bit of an experiment.

These are,

"Stepped, Inserted Wagglers with Fine Tips" for silver fishing.

Weight capacity for these three floats is approximately 4 BB plus or 1.6g ish each.






 I have two main uses for these floats. 

The first will be standard on the drop fishing in the summer months in ponds and lakes use smaller baits. The second will be once again, for on the drop fishing but this time on rivers. 

When I have caught silvers well on the River Ribble the silvers have a tendancy to follow the bait to the source and take it as soon as it lands and its then I switch from a stick to a small waggler. These floats will be perfct for that situation.

I will also be making a self cocking dart version of this pattern.

Lathe Made Pike Bobber - First Effort. . . .😊

This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. River Wye Day 2 - 01.07.2024

Morning all. Both John and I where off to a new stretch of the river today. Our chosen destination was the Wye Lee stretch of the River Wye near the bridge pillers. We arrived to find ourselves the first people there so had the pick of the pegs. John already new where he was gonna fish as did I due to short recce the night before. John was in the the first peg next to the pillers. A bit of a boilly, washing machine peg due to all the sub-surface obstructions. It looked very "Barbely" but he may well loose some end tackle. A bonus John had was we had witnessed a barbel capture from there the night previous so at least we new the were in the vacinity. It had been very warm the past week. I had my suspicions the barbel may still be spawning, or at least cleaning off in the fast water. My choice of run was a double croy. A croy is something like a jetty of rocks, man made, in this case, heading out into the river to about 40 feet. A double croy has the same jetty of rocks mirrore...
