A Custom Build Barbel Twin Tip Rod By Andrew Boyne

As you all know I am a float angler through and through,
however,
even I recognised there is a time a place to dispense with the float due to river conditions.
Basically,
it boils down to the fact that I don't want to drive thirty miles to the ribble and have to drive home because the river is five foot up, looks like chocolate milkshake and is unfishable
on the float.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I also wanted a nice piece  kit for
" Salford Pete "
to use when we manage to get out together.
( Trotting for five hours is hard work in your forties . . . . . .never mind your seventies )
He is always talking about our old trips to Bridgenorth fishing for barbel,
which was mainly tip fishing in the ealy days so I thought this would be a nice joint present between us.

When I approached Andy about the build we had a long chat regarding mine and my dads requirements.
I wanted a spliced tipped barbel rod that I could use on the Irwell as well as the Ribble.
I also wanted a heavier tip for when the river is up and pushing through a bit.
It would also double up as a specimen
still water bream and tench rod and would require an eye with a screw thread to accommodate one of my swing or quiver tips.
Having listened to my request he came back with the twin tip barbel rod you see before you.
The spliced tip is coated with
" Glow In The Dark "
paint.
I requested the
G.I.T.D paint,
and Andy expertly applied it.
I really wanted this as it is very visible when the light fades and the fish start to feed in earnest.
The rest of the blank is in standard carbon black.
The eyes are whipped with violet thread and gold tippets as per
" The Creature Reacher "

The graphics section near the butt is pure white with lovely inscriptions,
barbel decals and of course a
" Union Jack Flag "
indicating the rods country of manufacture.
I am over the moon once again

Dreams are, and will be  made with this piece of kit

Here it is.

A Barbel Twin Tip Ledger Rod
By Andrew Boyne .
A Step Towards The Dark Side !!!!!
LOL
🤣
Three different corks were used for the handle as well as a a nice fugi reel seat.

 😉
I had dedicated barbel tip rod once in the early eighties. . . . .
It was a North Western Blanks rod. I loved it and used all the time until a careless
" Friend Of The Family "
broke the tip section.
😭
The butt section is still in the workshop.
 🤔
I just can't wait to get this one wet !!!!!!!!
Short sessions on the
Irwell
and day trips the the
Ribble here I come
!!!!!!!!!!
Cheers Andy,
your a star m8.
