Rustic Slimline Avon

Image
Hi all, On this latest float I have tried to intentionally age the float body giving it a two tone mottled brown effect. Threads used are simply black & grey. Both myself and my friends have tried this style of float out on a few occasions fishing for roach and dace. One criticism is that the bristle is a little long so I will bare that in mind in the future. A future change may be the addition of a carbon stem to replace the aluminium one. The stem change will make the float more suitable for slower rivers This float is going in my bag and will hopefully be tried out on some Yorkshire rivers after "LOCK DOWN" fishing for roach and chub (More of that in the future) I am happy with the way it has turned out but a little apprehensive about reproducing it. If I can reproduce it to my satisfaction I will try and make a few more different floats in this style. We shall see.  😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would l...

Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quills.

Image
Hello there... Some more lock down floats. Here we have some more " Glow In The Dark Porcupine Quills". These are fiddly to make but the finished float is worth the effort. Finished with black and burgundy whippings these floats will be partnered with a can rod for some still water action, hopefully , when the lock down has finished. Not long until lock down is over.....lets hope  anyway... 😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1       Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

Chunky Balsa Wagglers

Image
Hi all, With a some time on my hands I have tried something a little different. The four balsa wagglers you see below. 😁 These are quiet wide at 8 mm.The shorter tipped two are for pellet fishing on commercials and club lakes. The two with longer tips are for rivers using bigger baits like bread, paste, worm etc As ever I have tried to go old school with a modern twist. To be honest I just made the bodies, stained and painted all four, then free styled with a few ideas until I settled with the two designs you see before you.  With the warm weather I am missing my fishing, as I am sure all of you are. I want some nice chub pictures next to these beauties so the quicker we are off lock down the sooner we can all get fishing. Stay stay safe people !!!!!! 😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.c...

New Stained Stick Float (Dreaming of the rivers already !!!!)

Image
I am just putting the finishing touches on a new stick float. To be honest I broke the tip off a Slimline Avon float but instead of discarding it I decided to see what I could make of what was left. The stick float below is the answer and I quite like it.  😁😁😁😁😁 Stained with dark oak, this float is made if balsa and aluminium.  Its shape and size lends itself to a variaty of baits in medium to fast water such as maggots, casters, bread and pellet. When allowed out of isolation this will be tried on a known peg on the ribble that I have had my eye on for some time but have been unable to get there for one reason or another. (Mr Boyne, you know of where I speak) The swim is a well known feeder leg for barbel and chub but as far as I know un-tried on the float. Well, i tried it once but quickly realised I was under - gunned float wise, although I did catch but just the one. 😉 TTFN   Peanut.   If you wo...

Glow In The Dark Tinca Sticks

Image
Another version of the tench floats I make are the  " Glow In The Dark Tinca Sticks " They are the same float as the standard tinca sticks but with glow in the dark paint applied to the tips, very useful when you just need an extra few hours fishing into the darkness. As per the previous floats these tinca sticks are made from reed & cane but with yellow glow in the dark yellow, black segments plus black gold and violet whipping. As can be seen below these also work for shy bitting Crucian Carp as well as Carp & Tench. Tinca Sticks - A Blast From The Past !!!!

Image
Here are some more floats I haven't made in an age  These three " Tinca Sticks " More traditional then my current offerings these are designed for tench fishing, usually at close quarters but these three are much longer so they can be used for general fishing. Made from reed & cane with red/green tips,  black and white segments, plus black gold and violet whipping. I cut my float making teeth in this style of float  and enjoyed making these so much I made another two, slightly different from these but you will have to wait to them 😉 Lets.hope these three catch plenty of fish. A Team Of Carp Stalkers

Image
Here we have a five float set of  Carp Stalkers. All taking around 3 BB these floats are, once more, made of Sarkanda reed and are day glow fluorescent pink/ red apart from one which is made with day glow yellow. The pink/red stalkers are finished in gold, black and violet threads. The yellow stalker is finished in gold, black, violet and crimson threads. All designed for fishing close quarters / down the side in shollow water mainly for carp but will definitely have a place in my tench armoury also. I think he next time I make some of these they will be self cockers. Note to self, I must get some more fish & float pictures with these floats this season. ( Difficult when I mainly fish rivers.....lol ) TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1 ...
