Salford Pete-Commercial Bagging

Image
It was high time my dad and I had a fishing session together so after work we popped down to my local commercial carp fishery in Yorkshire. I recently purchased a new rod for  "Salford Pete" I opted for a 13ft Korum Glide, ideal for my dads style of fishing and quite robust incase if any accidental knocks. So, with his new bit if kit my old man was itching to wet a line. I helped set him up  ( Purely for speed as it was 17.00 when we arrived ) on his Bodied Antenea Waggler which I made for him which he loves for maggot fishing. I lumped in three jaffers of my special commie ground bait mix so dad could just flick maggots in over the top and catch anything that came around. Due to the short time we had (3 hrs) I decided to cocentrate on one line down the left hand side.  My attack was three Jaffers of special commie mix, half a pint of hemp plus a few grains of corn. I also had some paste mix I made up in case they were a little hesitant taking corn. Before I could wet a line

Antenne Wagglers-5BB

Image
Morning all, I have managed to finish these wagglers this morning. The lollipop style float is mine for a local lake I fish for tench and mixed species, the other eight floats are for someone else. Once more balsa and hardwood make up the body of the floats. Eyes have been excluded from this build as rubber float connectors will be used. Stained, painted in slate grey with black and gold whippings these floats are now my go to still water float when fishing depths of less than six feet, a very sensitive float, great when maggot, caster or punch fishing. My self and "Salford Pete" should be having a social session on a local commie next week so I should get a few fish and float pictures fir a blog. Small, Fat Tipped, Avons For The Shallows

Image
Hi all, This weeks offerings are "Small, Fat Tipped, Avons" 11 centemetres long. for fishing shallow runs.....very usefull with the weather we are having the last couple of years. Simply made with balsa, hardwood paint & stain....these floats are an alternative to the Irwell sticks being narrower in the tip, fatter in the body have a reduced density stem and will take more shot down the line compared to the sticks. Finished in 50% and 100% slate grey I am hoping to get out myself for some fish and float pics on a Yorkshire River. These avons will give me some motivation to get out and fish a new stretch of River Derwent I have been looking at since the spring. I will be pairing the floats with my Bob James Pin and fishing a fast, shallow, well oxygenated stretch of the river in search of chub and barbel but centainly wont complain if I bag some silvers, a river gudgeon is always a nice surprise to if I am lucky enough to bag one.......We shall see. Ps: I have been talkin

Red bodied Lollipop Lifters

Image
Hi all, I have made some more of these today with shorter stems and red bodies. I used shorter stems on these for fishing in the shallows tight to the pads. I hope you like them. Again all floats made to fit 3mm float adaptors. Ultimate Ledger Floats - Sight Bob Wagglers.

Image
Hi All, I don't really re-vamp floats but a request to build some wagglers from some ledger float fittings took my fancy. Three different sized floats were created ........ Yellow stems and half and orange, half yellow sight bobs were requested with the rest of the decore left to me. I opted for a Hunter Green Body, (It's my thing at the momement) with black & yellow threads. The floats were not made to be identical but very similar in decor. I must admit I have never used floats like these before so I'm looking forward to some performance reports once completed.
