Part II "Shouldered & Flared 4g Stcks For Long Trotting"

 Hi all,

I kindly received an update on this set of floats just over a week after their completion.

"I was recently asked to make a set of 20 no 4 (4g) Shouldered Alloy Stick Floats for a trip on the River Itchen in the coming weeks.

The floats are to be used for long trotting fishing six feet plus on some runs.

Because of the distance these floats will be fished at I have kept the tips as wide as I possible could, flaring the taper out just before the shoulder, initially giving a wider tip before turning the shoulder/tip".

These floats were made for grayling long trotting in swims from 4 to eight feet deep,

The results speak for themselves . . . . .

Mini Driftbeaters....The Christening

 Morning all , The day had come to christen our new prototype Mini Driftbeaters. With Salford Pete in tow we arrived at a local venue and set up ready for a days float fishing. I marched off in front to secure our pegs while Salford Pete seemed to take an age to arrive. He was talking and walking slowly to some other bloke I did not recognise. It was only when he got closer did I recognise my old mate  "The Castertman" He popped down to see another mate of his who was also fishing. We had a chat for five minutes then Casterman skipped off stating he would be back when we had both set up and started fishing. Ten minutes later me and the oldman were ready for the all in. I was fishing off the bottom initially to see if I could catch some of the good quality silvers which were present in the lake. River Irwell PB On A New Mini- Alloy Stem Avon

 Hi all, I had a short session to test some Mini-Alloy Stem Avons out this morning and ... BOY.......AM I GLAD I DID !!!!!! I hoped down to the SFAs stretch of the Irwell to hopfully grab some grayling pictures with my new trotters. It was a smash and grab raid as I was taking out  T.O.W.M.B.O. (THE ONE WHO MUST BE OBAYED) out for an early Valentines Dinner. (So Im frantically witting this blog as Dudds has put me under some considerable pressure to get it to you tonight) 😆 I got up late to throw a spanner in the works as well. I managed a few coats of paint on some other floats I am currently making then it was off to the river. I had a few grayling within the first ten minutes so my pictures were in the bag early doors. 😁 I checked my pictures and concluded they where what I was after and therefore could now relax for the next hour, enjoying the peace of being out in the fresh air as the new avon meandered along then bobed under  "Hmm another lady I thought"...... the the
