Dads & Lads Small Antennae Wagglers

My Old Man AKA 

"Salford Pete"

has recently proffessed an interest in fishing some local Yorkshire pools. Last week we disgussed which two float patterns would be best for his style of fishing.

One Sunday evening after many post meal brandies we chame up with the following float pattern.

The first pattern is a small bodied,antennae, waggler which will be used for his silver fishing at short to medium range at a depth of approximately 4.5 feet.

 

For the antenee pattern we decide on a balsa body, a hard wood stem, a brass eye, a fluorescent red/pink sight tip, and black and violet whippings. 

My dad requested the floats body colour in "Hunter Green"...... I also had the same.

This will be used a a general maggot, caster,punch and small pellet float by me and my dad when we eventually get out to fish together.

Hopefully a few fish pictures will folow later on this month.

The second pattern for margin fishing is still to be decided......it is a toss up between a dibber for me and a carp stlker for my dad.....still......a good excuse for a few more brandies.

Mini Driftbeaters....The Christening

 Morning all , The day had come to christen our new prototype Mini Driftbeaters. With Salford Pete in tow we arrived at a local venue and set up ready for a days float fishing. I marched off in front to secure our pegs while Salford Pete seemed to take an age to arrive. He was talking and walking slowly to some other bloke I did not recognise. It was only when he got closer did I recognise my old mate  "The Castertman" He popped down to see another mate of his who was also fishing. We had a chat for five minutes then Casterman skipped off stating he would be back when we had both set up and started fishing. Ten minutes later me and the oldman were ready for the all in. Lathe Made Pike Bobber - First Effort. . . .😊

This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. With a little more practise I feel I can get this pattern looking a much better. This is how it looks now. What do you think ? 😊 Any constructive criticism is always welcome.
