Sliding Perch Bobber

Image
A sliding perch bobber. This one is finished in orange, has a jay feather inlay and a purple pearlescent finish and . . . . . Is for a very influencial person that has helped me get my fishing head back on in the last few years. Enjoy my friend. 😉 This one will see a lot of actiin on the Rochdale Canal I think. 😉   Here are the three I have been working on lately. Until the next time. TTFN Peanut. Baby Chubbers

Image
The first chubber I made was a bit of a beast taking 7 swan shot  . . . . . . http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/new-chubber-float-in-metallic.html?m=1 so I thought I would make a couple of pairs for general and light fishing. Below is the smallest of the new chubbers. This pair does not have any coloured paint on the body apart from the white and Pink / yellow fluorescent on the tips.  All the rest of the floats colour is produced by thread which are . . . Black Gold Violet & Blue. These are without doubt the hardest floats I have ever made and took ALL my patience to complete them. It is not so much the difficulty but the size of this build that gave me multiple issues. I have very small hands and fingers and still struggled.  I have added a 5 pence piece to the picture to give you some kind of scale regarding the size of the floats. These will be useful bit if kit on a lot of rivers I fish and also for up in the water fish...

This one is for the lower Ribble and he has promised me an nice fish and float picture with a plump river perch . . . . . . No pressure there then.pal.  😂😂😂😂😂 Until the next time. TTFN Peanut. New Chubber Float In Metallic Pearlescent Blue.

Image
I have been meaning to up date my chubber floats for quite some time now.  My first pattern was a more traditional looking float made from natural sourced materials and hand carved. My new effort is made from balsa, birch and is hand turned on my lathe.  ( A tool I am still very much a beginner on ). Finished in metallic pearlescent blue, a white shoulder and a fluorescent red/ pink tip. The whippings on this particular float are gold, black, blue and violet. A shoulder has been incorporated into thus pattern to give it a little more sensitivity as well as looking aesthetically pleasing.  Taking approximately 7 SSG ( 11.2 g ) and is 145mm by 16mm at its widest point. This float is at home on the faster shallow runs of the Rivers Irwell and Ribble fishing worm, bread, meat, pellet and paste. I am looking forward to producing a nice " Fish & Float " picture in the near future as I really like the look of the new pattern and  can see ...

A Quartet Of " Pearlescent, Feather Inlay Balsa Floats "

Image
This quartet of . . . .   " Pearlescent, Feather Inlay Balsa Floats " have been a long time in the making.  ( I made them once and changed my mined about the whole set and started again ) They consist of hand turned blasa and birch, black, gold and purple thread, pearlescent & fluorescent paint and hand turned brass eyelets. I am very proud of this set, not so much the decoration as I am quite confident with my abilities in that area.  I am referring to the build.  It is still a challenge for me to hand turn sets exactly matching but, I think I have accomplished this with this set. These four were designed for barbel and chub fishing in pacey stretches of the River Wye, a river I, personally never fished.  A situation I will address in the near future.......hopefully. Anyway . . . . . . . . I hope you like these four. I have some more new floats that should be ready for next week so  . . . . Stay tuned. ...
