Glow In The Dark Reversible, Feather Inlay, Sliding Pike Pencils For Alll Light Conditions.

Image
Hopefully I have covered the majority of conditions with the colour scheme of the next batch of . . . . . .  Glow In The Dark Reversible, Feather Inlay Sliding Pike Pencils. The prial above and below are made from balsa, finished with black, purple and gold thread. The paints used are glow in the dark yellow / black and all have a feather inlayed onto the float.  These three floats take approximately 30 g in weight and, in my opinion, will cover most light conditions when out piking on the float.  The first model of of these floats got a hook up straight away when used on the local canal. http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/11/pike-slider-christaning.html?m=1 Lets hope these three have the same effect.  All of these floats will be used on the river Wye and I am more than interested in their performance over the pike season. Hopefully I will have a few pictures of fish and float to show you all in the near future....

New Lathe Purchase - Way Out Of My Comfort Zone !!!!!!!!

Image
Having purchased a small lathe from ebay I decided I would buy a much larger one. Myself and my dad enjoyed using a lathe immensely. We were watching one on ebay when the final day for bidding came. Just my luck !!!!!!!!! My snipe site wont let me use it so we had to do it the old fashioned way. With 8 seconds on the clock I put our bid in and looked at my old man and crossed our fingers................... Then the notification had come . . . . . . . . . WE HAD WON IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With a whoop, whoop and a little jig from my dad ( which is no mean feet as he is 73 years young ) we contacted the seller and arranged to meet up next Monday. While I was at work my dad frantically cleaned up a workspace for the new lathe as it is about ten times bigger than the one I had first used. My uncle Dave , who likes to play with his wood !!!!!!! heard about our purchase via my dad and offered to transport the lathe in his Skoda  Yettie as it was...

Feather Inlay Strajght Wagglers

One of the most popular float patterns of all time is the straight waggler. It has a variety of uses on still and running water. Here is one of my interpretations of the pattern. Pike Slider - A Manchester Christening.

Image
Today I was heading to an SFA section of the Rochdale Canal, not to fish but to deliver a pair of Pike Sliders to their new owner.😁 http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/large-revesable-sliding-feather-inlay.html?m=1 I know this section of the the canal reasonable well as I used to work right next to it but I have never fished it for Pike. I arrived at around three o'clock and met Karol and Lee both experienced Pikers compared to me . .  . . . . Lol so I decided to hang around and get some tips off my new friends. 😁 Karol did not mess about and changed his old pike pencil to one of his new Glow In The Dark Pike Sliders and got to work. " Hang around here Mike and I will have a picture of a pike and the new slider float for you within the hour "  . . . . . I smiled and said " Ok mate your on "  The boys were struggling to be honest but they still had another hour and a half of light left to get a hook up. Four r...
