New 11g Barbel Stick

Image
Hi all, As I have got older in years I am not much of a summer angler prefering the autum and winter months. Below is the largest stick I have made to date. The smaller float is a MKIV Irewll Stick for comparison. The "Heavy Barbel Stick" above comes in at 11 plus grammes (7 swan old money) and will be used for chub and barbel in the coming colder months. I will use this when fishing specific runs on the Irwell where it is just too deep for the Irwell Sticks. TTFN      Peanut. Fully Loaded Irwell Sicks

Image
Morning all, I have completed another set of ..... "Fully Loaded Irwell Sticks" I love using these when fishing shallow faster water for barbel & chub in the summer. Most of the weight is in the float so you get a lot of bait movemnt in the fast water. In the summer the barbel are prepared to chase a bait around a little more. I have also experienced grayling liking the same presentation in the colder months. Finished in hunter green with black and gold whippings this style now has a permenant olace in my tackle box along with the alloy stem version.  TTFN      Peanut. Fully Loaded & Alloy Stem Stick Floats

Image
Hi all, I have just completed a prial of.....stick floats. Two fully loaded & one alloy stem stick. The fully loaded floats are finished in deep blue and slate grey. The alloy stem stick has been stained to achieve the deep chestnut finish. Two red/pink tips and one fluorescent orange tip, all with a white collar plus black and gold whippings. Autum is on its way which is my favourite time to fish so hopefully I will get some fish and float pictures soon. 😁 TTFN      Peanut. Large Avons, Hardwood & Alloy Stems

Image
Morning all, I have just finished a pair of .. Large Avons with Hardwood & Alloy Stems. These are made from balsa with black and grey whippings, an orange fluorescent tip plus a 50% grey body. These floats take approximately 6 SSG. The above floats will work well in faster, deeper runs but are mainly used for biggers baits such as meat, bread, pellet and paste. 😁 TTFN      Peanut. MK IV Irwell Sticks

Image
Hi all, I'm still on my quest for a shallow water stick float. The float below is the 4th style I have tried. The MK IV is shorter and wider then the previous styles and takes more weight, approximately 3g ..... ish. This particular float is for smaller pieces of bread, pellet and meat but will also present maggot and caster well when bulked shotted in faster flows. I only have the one at the moment and will test as soon as possible, probable for grayling on my local river. This particular float is for smaller pieces of bread, pellet and meat but will also present maggot and caster well when rigged with bulk shot in faster flows. Next will be a larger version for bigger pieces of bread, meat and paste. PS: I manage to get out this morinng after the ladies before the footbal started,  hooked seven, lost three, caught four , all from one run on the Irwell. All the fish were caught from a two and a half foot deep run just before a five foot drop off, drip feeding maggots and liquified

Sliding Perch Bobber With A Feather Inlay.

Image
Hi all. I do not make perch bobbers as often as I would like, especially the sliding veriety. Well, today is the exception !!!! Below is what is left of a pair of.... Sliding, Feather Inlay, Perch Bobbers in blue with black and gold whippings plus a fluoro red/pink tip. The other float without the inlay will be kept as a user as I had an accident lacquering it !!!!  (It happens to us all) 🙄 A week later I have actually managed to save the float mentioned but, alas, the inlay had to be removed but I am still happy with the finished product nevertheless. 😁 The stem is hollow to enable the float to be used as in internal sliding float. I have added spiral whipping which is something I don't often do, it just seemed the right thing to do at the time so I went with it.  The feather was a no brainer and had to be a Jay feather, all the colour combinations demanded it !!!! 😊 There we have it... Lets hope I actually get out to fish some time soon !!!!! TTFN      Peanut. Please subscrib
