Dads & Lads Small Antennae Wagglers

Image
Hi all, My Old Man AKA  "Salford Pete" has recently proffessed an interest in fishing some local Yorkshire pools. Last week we disgussed which two float patterns would be best for his style of fishing. One Sunday evening after many post meal brandies we chame up with the following float pattern. The first pattern is a small bodied, antennae, waggler which will be used for his silver fishing at short to medium range at a depth of approximately 4.5 feet.   For the antenee pattern we decide on a balsa body, a hard wood stem, a brass eye, a fluorescent red/pink sight tip, and black and violet whippings.  My dad requested the floats body colour in "Hunter Green"...... I also had the same. 😊     This will be used a a general maggot, caster, punch and small pellet float by me and my dad when we eventually get out to fish together. Hopefully a few fish pictures will folow later on this month. The second pattern for margin fishing is still to be decided......it is a toss up

Quill & Pin.....An Evening Tench Session

Image
Hi all, I' ve been getting out a bit for a change!!!! Working in Yorkshire I have been exploring a few local ponds and lakes. I do like a nice early season tench so armed with a Youngs B.J. Pin and a custom made Harrison SU Waggler Rod from Andew Boyne I had a couple of hours on a local lake. It was a slow start tonight, surprising as the weather as much warmer then the prevous session. Bream were the first to show. I had seven or eight of these before a small mirror put a bend in my rod.  After an hour I had a big lift bite off a small tench which is what I was after. Not the biggest but put a nice bend in the rod. A short time afterwards another, even smaller one graced my landing net. I had a few more larger carp and bream,  called it a day when I couldn't see my float. All in all a good night with plenty of bites and fish. PS: I dont usually like comecials but this one is very nice. TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted floats click on the link below

Bodied Wagglers Stained & Painted in Oak & Pale Grey

Image
Hi all, Below are a set of seven "Bodied Wagglers Stained & Painted in Pale Grey" I have not made this pattern for quite s while and decided to my a new variant. This set takes approximately  3-4AAA comprising of black and grey threads and on orange fluorescent tip. Mainly used for tench & bream this float is equally at home targeting smaller species at distance due to the sensitive, slim tip. I always find this pattern a bit fiddly but the end results is usually worth a little frustration on my part. I will be making quite a few of these soon, also a mini version for fishing down the side.
