Afternoon all, Just finished these three inserted wagglers in red, blue and black. I think these are my favourite floats to make as they can be decorated many different ways and used in multiple areas of fishing from ponds to big rivers. These are made with reed and hard wood stems, red, blue, white, paint with fluorescent red and orange tips. Threads used are black gold and blush gold finished with hand turned brass eyes. I will be making a rack of these of these over the Christmas period.....no idea of colour combinations yet 🤣 I will just go with the flow and see what happens. Hopefully getting on the river in the next few weeks so should have a few fishing blogs to load up. TTFN Peanut. Morning all, I've finished off some more floats for the Trent 2025 this morning. Alloy Stem Avons In Slate Grey- 8g. Made with balsa bodies, alloy stems The paints used were slate grey & green with white & fluorescent pink tips plus black and gold threads. There are quite a few of us going next year, some I know, some don't so hopefully I will make some new fishing buddies this time. 😊 Big baits are the order of the day for these floats, meat ,paste, pellet, bread, boilie etc. I use these these in-line weights when fishing a bulk down the line. The weights are are easily interchangeable if needed. I have never fished the Trent before, Gunthorpe area so I will have lots to learn and hopefully catch a few fish, friends and memories on the way. We will probably be making a few day trips before the main event to get a feel for the river.....a good excuse....lol. 😉 We are all looking forward to it very much. TTFN Peanut. Morning all, I have just completed a pair of Fluted Slate Grey Avons comimg in at 4.8g which are lighter than I wanted but as they say....its all a learning curve!!! 😊 I do enjoy making these even if they do take more time and effort. There is just something about the way they look that keeps you coming back for more. Made with balsa bodies, alloy stems The paints used were slate grey with white & fluorescent pink tips plus black and gold thread. Hopefully, this pair will be trundelling down the Trent next year after barbel & chub. These floats will be paired with an Harrison 14foot SU float road and a Youngs, Bob James Centerpin. I have just started carving another pair. I think I will try a goose quill as tip material for this pair. Until the next time………. TTFN Peanut. Inserted Sarkanda Wagglers - New Colour Scheme.

Morning all, I have been trying to think of new colour combinations that work together. Green, yellow & red is not a combnation that readly springs to mind but after an hour free styling one evening I came up with this. I wasn't sure at first, nearly stripped them all and started again but after a while the colour scheme grew on me so I finished all four floats. Made with balsa & hardwood, white, red, green & fluorescent orange paints. Threads used were black and gold blush. All floats were finished off with a hand turned brass eye. I have had many good catches over the years on this style of float, mainly roach dace, bream and perch on rivers but it is equally at home on still waters for aditional species such as carp, tench and bream. Until the next time………. TTFN Peanut. Heavy Irwell Sticks With Hardwood Stems

Morning all, I have been promising myself that I would make some more... "Heavy Irwell Sticks With Hardwood Stems" since the trip to the River Wye with John Derbyshire. https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2024/07/river-wye-day-2-01072024.html A couple of weeks ago I managed to get on the lathe and get some bodies turned. These come in at 6.5g and I will be making some larger ones a.s.a.p. These floats proved extremely usefull when shallow water trotting on the faster stretches of the Wye in Herefordshire. The fish (above) were caught holding back hard then letting the float travel down the swim about half the pace of the river on large pieces of lucheon meat I am also going to try these on the River Ribble this winter and should also double up as perch live bait floats TTFN. Peanut. Please subscribe if you would like regular updates of my adventures with the floats I make. If you would like to look at my handcrafted floats click on the link below....
