Lathe Made Pike Bobber - First Effort. . . .😊

Image
This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. With a little more practise I feel I can get this pattern looking a much better. This is how it looks now. What do you think ? 😊 Any constructive criticism is always welcome. Until the next time . . .   TTFN . . . . Peanut. If you would like to look at all of the hand crafted floats I make pleas

Pearlescent Feather Inlays

Image
" Salford Pete " has just treated himself to a new camera. It is a Cannon EOS 1200D So,  of  course,  we straight in there taking pictures of Pearlescent Inlays.......lol I am trying to get across how the appear in direct sunlight. The pearlescent particles really jump out at you. I will periodically be adding photos to this page to , hopefully show you all cose ups of Pearlescent Inlays. A JAY FEATHER WITH A COBALT PEARLESCENT. 😊 Not a feathered pearlescrnt but the body of the Barbel Stick Floats has the pearlescent instead. I was worried it may look a little blingy but it is quite subtle. I like it. 😉 This is a Fully loaded Pellet Waggler with a Perlescent Blue effect. I took this with my phone camera. Can yoy dee a difference in picture quality ?

Tinca Stick MKII Test & The Maiden Voyage of A Merlin Mordex Centerpin.

Image
Got a pass for Sunday so, a quick word with my old man and we settled for fishing " The Cut " which is an Unsworth Anglers club water - He was following me up later as he had a few to many pints of Joseph Holts mild the previous night and felt a bit rough......the poor lamb.....LOL. I reached my  peg in good time and luckily for me the rain gods kept their distance. I set up my Conni X and fited my "Merlin Mordex Centerpin real ".This was its maiden voyage as well and I was looking forward  to having a play with it as well as assessing the new " Tinca Stick " Now, bait for the session was 6mm pellets -  de-frosted - and chopped meat & a little hemp to hold the fish in the swim......I also had some skanky maggots that had been in the fridge for about two weeks and most of them were casters but Salford Pete was on a maggot run and would be here shortly with fresh bait. The MK II Tinca Stick took 4BB plus to cock it, which is
