Mustard Yellow Inserted Wagglers With Vibrant Red Whippings

Image
Hi all, I was tidying up one of my many storage boxes when I came across three,  un-finished, "Mustard Inserted Wagglers" & a single "Mustard Straight Waggler" I vaguely remember preparing and painting them but for who and why god only knows....I must be getting old....lol. !!!!!!!!!!!! (See, its's not just you Graham Beddow....lol) 😆 Anyway, I decided to finished them off.  I palyed around with a few different thread colours but struggle to settle on a particular one. ( I have struggled a few times with this earthy yellow colour) I eventually settled on crimson as the main thread used in conjuction with black and gold. I was still not sure about the thread colours until I saw them varnished. Varnishing tenda to add another dimension to the colours, paints as well but I am happy I made the right choice after seeing the finished articles. Several more of the inserted versions are on the go and should be finished in two weeks time. TTFN   Peanut.   If you wo

Float & Pin On A Yorkshire Pool

Image
I have, once again been struggling to get motivated to go fishing but finally made it out last night for a spot of centerpin float fishing on a lovely scenic pool in Yorkshire. I decided to fish the lift method down the margins to see what the pool offered and  opted for one of my standard, banded porcupine quills in fluorescent yellow and white. Baits used were corn and bread....loose feeding liquidised bread and hemp. The session started off slowly.  I had a few lifts and bobs but nothing solid. A few blows around my feed built up my confidence so I introduced a little more liquidised bread and hemp. Straight after the new bait was introduced my float bobbed, then buried and I was into one of the small resident bream. A few more bream graced my net and to be honest I was just happy sitting there in the sun catching a few fish, taking in all the atmosphere of this lovely little lake when polite voice behind me bid me said  "Good evening" ......  it was the owners wife.  We

Emerald Green Inserted Wagglers

Image
The first floats of 2021. Five inserted wagglers with fluorescent orange and yellow tips. Threads used were black, gold, violet, red, green, pale blue using brass eyes and made of sarkanda reed. I don't usually like green but after seeing the result s of these three I am now making some more. 😁 Made a couple more free styling. Here are the other two floats. Inserted & Straight Crimson & Burgundy Wagglers.

Image
Carrying on with my latest addiction. Below are a set of four  Burgundy Inserted Sarkanda Wagglers. I just love using this stuff. Finished in burgundy, crimson, black, violet and new rose gold threads and all with fluorescent day glow pink and orange tips.  These floats are slightly shorter than the last set I made coming in at and taking grams. Being quiet slim these floats are for still water fishing with maggots, casters and small pellets etc. I think I will use these as on the drop roach floats for the coming summer. I also had two spare straight wagglers so whipped them in similar colours. LOCK DOWN IS OFF FOR US FISHERMEN. ENJOY......BUT BE SAFE & SENSIBLE. 😁😁😁😁😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1       Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://s

Two Tone, Painted, Inserted Wagglers

Image
Another float I have had in my minds eye for some years is the one below. Made with sarkanda and cane these  Inserted Wagglers have been a thorn in my side for a while. Why? Because I new I could do better than the final results I had achieved up until now !!!!!!!! However, I am very happy with the design below, and I am pleased to say this particular float has passed quality control..... lol 🤣 This waggler has a white central band, threads used are black, gold, violet, and crimson. The pearlescent metallic paint use is Gothic purple. Made mainly for maggot caster and hemp fishing this float was a real pain to get right initially but I think the results speak for themselves. What do you think? I am very pleased with this design and honestly do not think I can achieve better results with my current skill set. Adding a decal instead of writing on the float was a possibility I had thought of but have steered clear of decals up until now p

New Inserted wagglers

Image
I was recently asked to make a very specific set of ...... Inserted Wagglers. These are by no means ground breaking but, over the years I have found it he little changes in your set up that help with bite detection. This change was a simple one and its all about the tip. Away with the white band, all the tip colour is in fluorescent red/pink with a central black band of 75mm.  This contrast in colour will ensure any small lifts are detected when fishing a venue with a white surface. Taking around 2AA these are mainly for still water silver fish and tench using maggot, caster and hemp. I hope you all like them.  TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1        Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/
