A Date With Some Yorkshire Ladies. 😉

Image
To day was the day that myself and Salford Pete were heading off over to the wrong side of the hills, up the M67 and over to Yorkshire. Our target for the day were  Yorkshire Ladies . . . .  Ladies if the stream that is . . . . .  Otherwise known as. . . . . GRAYLING !!!!!!!! Being born and bred Mancunians grayling are a foreign species to us and, unfortunately neither of us have bagged one on our travels.  ( Well. . . . . I have had one from Lymm Vale but I don't count still water grayling ) We were meeting a friend of mine and a new member of my float making group on face book, Jordan O'Halloran, a local Yorkshire lad with bags of knowledge regarding ladies. 😉😉😉😉😉😉 ( Dont tell the Mrs.... 🤣 ) We met around 08.00 on the River Don. Unfortunately, the river was high, coloured and pushing through at a fair old rate of knots. Not the best grayling conditions but this trip was planned months ago so we all decided to give it a go. Ivory Baby Bobbers

Image
With my latest quartet of  " Baby Bobbers " I have tried to tone these down a little and make them a little more traditional.  I started well keeping to my ivory colour combination but fell down at the base stem whipping stage and just had to add a little bling . . . . . Lol. The silver metallic thread is slightly more subtle than my standard gold thread and really goes with this set.  Finished in ivory, black, silver, violet and various fluorescent clour tips.😁 The bobbers take approximately 3AAA and can be used for perch, grayling and jack pike using maggots, casters, small worms and live fry etc. I am very happy with the way these have turned out even if I went off plan slightly . Lol. 🤣 Until the next time. TTFN Peanut. Baby Chubbers

Image
The first chubber I made was a bit of a beast taking 7 swan shot  . . . . . . http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/new-chubber-float-in-metallic.html?m=1 so I thought I would make a couple of pairs for general and light fishing. Below is the smallest of the new chubbers. This pair does not have any coloured paint on the body apart from the white and Pink / yellow fluorescent on the tips.  All the rest of the floats colour is produced by thread which are . . . Black Gold Violet & Blue. These are without doubt the hardest floats I have ever made and took ALL my patience to complete them. It is not so much the difficulty but the size of this build that gave me multiple issues. I have very small hands and fingers and still struggled.  I have added a 5 pence piece to the picture to give you some kind of scale regarding the size of the floats. These will be useful bit if kit on a lot of rivers I fish and also for up in the water fishing for carp,

A Quartet Of " Pearlescent, Feather Inlay Balsa Floats "

Image
This quartet of . . . .   " Pearlescent, Feather Inlay Balsa Floats " have been a long time in the making.  ( I made them once and changed my mined about the whole set and started again ) They consist of hand turned blasa and birch, black, gold and purple thread, pearlescent & fluorescent paint and hand turned brass eyelets. I am very proud of this set, not so much the decoration as I am quite confident with my abilities in that area.  I am referring to the build.  It is still a challenge for me to hand turn sets exactly matching but, I think I have accomplished this with this set. These four were designed for barbel and chub fishing in pacey stretches of the River Wye, a river I, personally never fished.  A situation I will address in the near future.......hopefully. Anyway . . . . . . . . I hope you like these four. I have some more new floats that should be ready for next week so  . . . . Stay tuned. 😁 Until the n
