New In-Line Sliding Pike Bobber

Image
I don't make many cork pike floats and fancied trying a blend of styles mixing new with old so, with that in mined I have made my first attempt at a new pattern. 😊 Below is a  . . . .  Cork Boddied In-Line Pike Bobber. It has a hollow carbon shaft for the line to slide through enabling the angler to fish at any depth. ( If anyone can think of a natural hollow tube to use plesse let me know ) I have also added a large sight bob, hopefully it can the be used for both pike and perch when  live bait fishing. Cock the float to the largest dome for pike fishing with larger live baits and to the sight bob for smaller live baits for perch and jack pike. It has to be tested yet but I do not see why it can not be used for both styles. Finished in fluorescrnt red / pink , black, gold and violet whippings plus a nice feather for further decoration. I rather like this design myself. I just need some nice fish and float picures now to go on the fish and

Baby Chubbers

Image
The first chubber I made was a bit of a beast taking 7 swan shot  . . . . . . http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/new-chubber-float-in-metallic.html?m=1 so I thought I would make a couple of pairs for general and light fishing. Below is the smallest of the new chubbers. This pair does not have any coloured paint on the body apart from the white and Pink / yellow fluorescent on the tips.  All the rest of the floats colour is produced by thread which are . . . Black Gold Violet & Blue. These are without doubt the hardest floats I have ever made and took ALL my patience to complete them. It is not so much the difficulty but the size of this build that gave me multiple issues. I have very small hands and fingers and still struggled.  I have added a 5 pence piece to the picture to give you some kind of scale regarding the size of the floats. These will be useful bit if kit on a lot of rivers I fish and also for up in the water fishing for carp,

Taking approximatrly 5AAA for maggots and 3AAA for small live baits The sets above are finished in balsa and cane wih Fluorescent Day Glow Pigment & Pearlescent Blue Jay feathers. I hope you like them. Here are a few pictures of fish caught on my  " Perch Bobbers " I will be adding a few my self shortly. Peanuts Bobbers In Thailand !!!!!!!!!!!

Image
My Bobbers are becoming well travelled........!!!!!!!! JaySS has just returned from Thailand and was using  one of my bobbers for catching his live bait. I am over the moon with the pictures JaySS, thanks for taking the time out from your holiday to take some snaps for me. I really appreciate it pal. This is his email I received this morning : " Hi Mike.  I spent some time in Thailand with one of your floats seeking live bait, and generally passing the time when nothing was biting. So I coined the word ......  "Peanutting"    especially for messing about in the margins.  Hope you don't mind. So ( this may take more than one email )    I will attached a few photos of fish caught with one of your floats.   I also hooked 3 other fish  on 5 pound line and a 14's hook and miniscule baits, that took off for the horizon. At least 100 yards runs.    In all three cases I had brought them approximately half way back when something abraded t
