Baby Chubbers

Image
The first chubber I made was a bit of a beast taking 7 swan shot  . . . . . . http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/12/new-chubber-float-in-metallic.html?m=1 so I thought I would make a couple of pairs for general and light fishing. Below is the smallest of the new chubbers. This pair does not have any coloured paint on the body apart from the white and Pink / yellow fluorescent on the tips.  All the rest of the floats colour is produced by thread which are . . . Black Gold Violet & Blue. These are without doubt the hardest floats I have ever made and took ALL my patience to complete them. It is not so much the difficulty but the size of this build that gave me multiple issues. I have very small hands and fingers and still struggled.  I have added a 5 pence piece to the picture to give you some kind of scale regarding the size of the floats. These will be useful bit if kit on a lot of rivers I fish and also for up in the water fishing for carp,

Double Set of Fluoro Perch Bobbers.

Image
Here we have the classic float shape. 😁 Two sets of  " Fluorescent Perch/Grayling Bobbers " Equally at home in still and running water, these floats are quite versatile. Taking approximatrly 5AAA for maggots and 3AAA for small live baits The sets above are finished in balsa and cane wih Fluorescent Day Glow Pigment & Pearlescent Blue Jay feathers. I hope you like them. Here are a few pictures of fish caught on my  " Perch Bobbers " I will be adding a few my self shortly. Pictures courtesy of Jay SS ( Thanks John ) Until the next time.  😊 TTFN Peanut If you would like to look at my handcrafted floats just hit the link. http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-2017.html?m=1 Join our club Its free !!!!!! http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

Small Multi - Coloured Sight Bob Wagglers.

Image
Here is a twist on my . . . . Sight Bob Wagglers. I have made these in five different colours. . . . From left to right . . . Metallic Pearlescent Green Metallic Pearlescent Egg Shell Blue Metallic Pearlescent Blue Metallic Pearlescent Royal Red and Classic Peanut Purple. 😉 Although designed with tench and bream in mind and taking approximately 4AAA plus these floats will work well for most species of still water fish. What do you think about the colours ??? I have a few more to add yet. . . . Stay tuned. 😁 Until the next time.

Barbel Hunt - Creature Reacher Earns Its Keep.

Image
I have just acquired a new club card for myself and Salford Pete. . . . Wigan DAA I have fancied this card for a while as it has good waters for my favourite species. Barbel Grayling Crucian Carp Tench Its not a bad deal either.  £30.00 for me £16.00 for Salford Pete Check it out via the link. http://wigandistrictangling.co.uk/ Salford had a lot on his plate this week and therefore was unable to join me on this session  ( which is a shame and something I will elaborate on at the end of the piece ) This was an out and out Barbel hunt ad I haven’t caught one for over two years which is far too long a wait. I took minimal tackle, kit bag, bait, net &  ”Creature Reacher “. I really wanted to put a good bend in the C.R. Them 7 lb bream Pb river bream I caught on the Irwell was a lovely capture but hardly a big test for the C.R. I arrived in good time and beat all the traffic. The M60 at Whitefield can be  . . . HORRENDOUS !!!!!! The

The Summer Solstice Thursday 21st June, the hottest day ever recorded in Great Britain, 38°C and I had chosen this day to meet up with the ..... “ Casterman and seriously try for a big River Irwell Bream on . . . .” “ The Creature Reacher “ I wasn't that confidant let me tell you !!!!!!!!!!! We had arranged to meet at the pegs as Casterman  finished work earlier than I. He was bringing one of his pals along, “ Pete The Fireman “ who had never fished the Lower Irwell before and was also looking forward, hopefully, to a nice, big, lump. The two friends where already fishing when I rocked up. “ How do Derek, you had out yet pal “ “ Noooor maaate. I haven't been in long Mike “ came the deep Lancastrian reply. I was set up and fishing within fifteen minutes. Creature Reacher, pin & a heavy, alloy stemed, inserted stick float were the tools for my first plan of attack. Four small balls of feed and a constant trickle of hemp. I have 6lb Drennan Floa
