Large Tipped Mini Grey Alloy Stem Avons

Image
Hi all, I have just finished a set of.. "Large Tipped Mini Grey Alloy Stem Avons" I have made these for fishing spate rivers along the shallow gravel runs, but any shallow medium paced river with not too much depth and these floats should do nicely. Colours used are Slate Grey & Charcoal Grey with fluorescent pink & orange tips, a white collars and finish with black and gold whippings. If you have been following my blog you will know there was an extraordinary outcome of the first few hours when trialing these floats, not to mention one or two heated comments on my local clubs Face Book page about O.O.S. Brown Trout captures....... Anyway..... The first few fish captured were my target fish, lovely Irwell Grayling caught in 3 feet of water. A very swift an pleasing outcome to the maiden voyage of this pattern. 😁 After that well, this leviathan rocked up..... and it was a whole different ball game for about 20 minutes. 😲 8lb Wild Brown Trout Hit the link for the ful...

River Irwell PB On A New Mini- Alloy Stem Avon

Image
Hi all, I had a short session to test some Mini-Alloy Stem Avons out this morning and ... BOY.......AM I GLAD I DID !!!!!! I hoped down to the SFAs stretch of the Irwell to hopfully grab some grayling pictures with my new trotters. It was a smash and grab raid as I was taking out  T.O.W.M.B.O. (THE ONE WHO MUST BE OBAYED) out for an early Valentines Dinner. (So Im frantically witting this blog as Dudds has put me under some considerable pressure to get it to you tonight) 😆 I got up late to throw a spanner in the works as well. I managed a few coats of paint on some other floats I am currently making then it was off to the river. I had a few grayling within the first ten minutes so my pictures were in the bag early doors. 😁 I checked my pictures and concluded they where what I was after and therefore could now relax for the next hour, enjoying the peace of being out in the fresh air as the new avon meandered along then bobed under  "Hmm another lady I thought"...... the...

Two Sets Of Black Alloy Stem Avons 5AAA & 5no 4s

Image
Morning all, I have been experimenting with some darker paints of late. Here is the first one in two sizes Large 5AAA Small 5 no 4s. Black avons with alloy stems, black and red whippings, a white collar and a pink/red tip. I have made these floats previously but not in a black two tone pattern which is quite subtle, camera  can not pick it up. I have used white signage on both sets of floats for obvious reasons which is something I have not done for a while and feel this version is a big improvement. These floats were desinged for slow,  running water but both sets will work well with a pole set up. I am making quiet a few of this style as I know, this coming season, I will be using them for most of my roach and bream fishing. Individual sets 5AAA 5 No 4s TTFN   Peanut.  Please subscribe if you would like regular updates of my adventures with the floats I make.  If you would like to look at my handcrafted floats click on the link below.     ...
