Quill & Pin.....An Evening Tench Session

 Hi all,

I' ve been getting out a bit for a change!!!!

Working in Yorkshire I have been exploring a few local ponds and lakes.

I do like a nice early season tench so armed with a Youngs B.J. Pin and a custom made Harrison SU Waggler Rod from Andew Boyne I had a couple of hours on a local lake.

It was a slow start tonight, surprising as the weather as much warmer then the prevous session.

Bream were the first to show. I had seven or eight of these before a small mirror put a bend in my rod. 

After an hour I had a big lift bite off a small tench which is what I was after.



Not the biggest but put a nice bend in the rod.

A short time afterwards another, even smaller one graced my landing net.


I had a few more larger carp and bream,  called it a day when I couldn't see my float.



All in all a good night with plenty of bites and fish.


PS: I dont usually like comecials but this one is very nice.

Mini Driftbeaters....The Christening

 Morning all , The day had come to christen our new prototype Mini Driftbeaters. With Salford Pete in tow we arrived at a local venue and set up ready for a days float fishing. I marched off in front to secure our pegs while Salford Pete seemed to take an age to arrive. He was talking and walking slowly to some other bloke I did not recognise. It was only when he got closer did I recognise my old mate  "The Castertman" He popped down to see another mate of his who was also fishing. We had a chat for five minutes then Casterman skipped off stating he would be back when we had both set up and started fishing. Ten minutes later me and the oldman were ready for the all in. Lathe Made Pike Bobber - First Effort. . . .😊

This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. With a little more practise I feel I can get this pattern looking a much better. This is how it looks now. What do you think ? 😊 Any constructive criticism is always welcome.
