Loaded Irwell Sticks

Image
"Searching Out The Seeforellen" I have been on the lathe once more making the following : Five Fully Loaded, Shallow Water Stick Floats, One Standard Loaded Stick Float, One Large Loaded Fat Tipped Avon and Three Alloy Stem Fat Tipped Avons for fishing with on the pin with small baits but not maggots and casters this time. The baits used for these floats will be mostly,  small red worms and artificial flies for native brook trout and stocked brownies. Here are some examples of fish that can be caught and their habitat. The last picture is a different strain of brown trout called the "Seeforellen" these grow very quickly to a tremendous size. I'm really looking forward to a catch report using these floats My friend. Inverted, Segmented, Porcupine Quills

Image
Hi all, Another float I have not made for quite a while is the  " Inverted, Segmented, Porcupine Quill" The pair below are eight inches in length which are, I would say, medium in size. The larger 12" quills are becoming quite difficult to to source.  Paints are Fluorescent Orange & White. Threads used are black and pale blue. The quills are finished off, as usual with a hand turned brass eye. These floats are a relatively simple floats to make compared to most other patterns as nature has pepared the body for you. All that is needed is a litttle sanding, however, the segmented sections do take more time to paint and whip. A very versitle float which an be used as a sensitive standard or count down waggler on still or running water. . . . . . . . . . . .  Here are a few older float pics. and fish captures on the Inverted Quills. Mini-Irwell Sticks

Image
Hi all, Below are a pair of..... Mini-Irwell Sticks, one grey, one green. I love these floats for fishing small rivers and streams where three feet is a good depth. The floats below do not take a lot of shot, approximately 4 no 4s and are at their best fished shirt button style in up to four feet of water. Some captures on Irwell Sticks. TTFN      Peanut.
