Slate Grey, Multi-Segmented Antennae Bodied Wagglers

Image
Afternoon all, Due to a wash out today there will be no fishing for me......but evey cloud has a silver lining as it enabled me to finish the two wagglers below. These are a slight variation on the  "Bodied Antennae Wagglers" I have previously made. There is no change in the build. 5AAA balsa, hardwood, brass eyes and fluorescent paints, slate grey bodied plus various thread colours. The difference between the two floats is the segment pattern near the tip of the float. I have seen first hand how the roach feed/ bite, at distance, on the slow flowing, deep river these floats were designed for and belive the changes suggested will improve performance. After a discussion with a fellow silver fish angler and friend we dicided to split the white and fluorescent yellow segments with another black band of thread, effectively splitting the latter to segments in half, hopefully to enable improved bite detection from the shy biting roach. Any way, enough bable....here are a pair of t

A Silver Doller Race Peanut Vs The Casterman

Image
Morning All, I have been itching to try my New/Old Drennan DRX so Casterman threw down an another silver doller race challange which I readily excepted. We both decided on re-visiting the same river we had our first roach match on where I was well beaten. Link below. https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/10/peanut-vs-casterman-silver-dolla-race.html Our target species was obviously wild roach but on this new stretch there was a chance of a few lumps so geared up accordingly. Initially we both opted to fish the bollo/avon....but, after a frustrating hour with the wind tearing up the river I switched to 4AAA Slate Grey Antennae Waggler with instant results !!!!!! Derek was not far behind me with the float change but he opted for the sliding waggler. 1.5 hrs into the session we started putting together a few fish....stamp roach to be exact...derek could not keep the smile of his face.....he's roach mad....lol. As it is a new stetch to us a little experimenting was in order. Derek

Antenne Wagglers-5BB

Image
Morning all, I have managed to finish these wagglers this morning. The lollipop style float is mine for a local lake I fish for tench and mixed species, the other eight floats are for someone else. Once more balsa and hardwood make up the body of the floats. Eyes have been excluded from this build as rubber float connectors will be used. Stained, painted in slate grey with black and gold whippings these floats are now my go to still water float when fishing depths of less than six feet, a very sensitive float, great when maggot, caster or punch fishing. My self and "Salford Pete" should be having a social session on a local commie next week so I should get a few fish and float pictures fir a blog. Inserted & Straight Crimson & Burgundy Wagglers.

Image
Carrying on with my latest addiction. Below are a set of four  Burgundy Inserted Sarkanda Wagglers. I just love using this stuff. Finished in burgundy, crimson, black, violet and new rose gold threads and all with fluorescent day glow pink and orange tips.  These floats are slightly shorter than the last set I made coming in at and taking grams. Being quiet slim these floats are for still water fishing with maggots, casters and small pellets etc. I think I will use these as on the drop roach floats for the coming summer. I also had two spare straight wagglers so whipped them in similar colours. LOCK DOWN IS OFF FOR US FISHERMEN. ENJOY......BUT BE SAFE & SENSIBLE. 😁😁😁😁😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1       Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://s

Inserted & Straight Burgundy Sarkanda Wagglers

Image
Hi All, Below are two pairs of inserted and straight. "Sarkanda Wagglers", Both pairs are finished in Burgundy, gold, violet & black threads. The tips are finished in fluorescent pink & orange. These four are for fishing in Norfolk for tench, bream and roach but both sets have their place on rivers in the right conditions. More of these will be coming soon as Sarkanda reed is my current go to float material at the moment. 😁 Fingers crossed fishing will be one of the first pass times allowed after lockdown. Take care everyone. Chunky Balsa Wagglers

Image
Hi all, With a some time on my hands I have tried something a little different. The four balsa wagglers you see below. 😁 These are quiet wide at 8 mm.The shorter tipped two are for pellet fishing on commercials and club lakes. The two with longer tips are for rivers using bigger baits like bread, paste, worm etc As ever I have tried to go old school with a modern twist. To be honest I just made the bodies, stained and painted all four, then free styled with a few ideas until I settled with the two designs you see before you.  With the warm weather I am missing my fishing, as I am sure all of you are. I want some nice chub pictures next to these beauties so the quicker we are off lock down the sooner we can all get fishing. Stay stay safe people !!!!!! 😁 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted  click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishi
