Pike Slider - A Manchester Christening.

Today I was heading to an SFA section of the Rochdale Canal, not to fish but to deliver a pair of Pike Sliders to their new owner.😁 http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/large-revesable-sliding-feather-inlay.html?m=1 I know this section of the the canal reasonable well as I used to work right next to it but I have never fished it for Pike. I arrived at around three o'clock and met Karol and Lee both experienced Pikers compared to me . .  . . . . Lol so I decided to hang around and get some tips off my new friends. 😁 Karol did not mess about and changed his old pike pencil to one of his new Glow In The Dark Pike Sliders and got to work. " Hang around here Mike and I will have a picture of a pike and the new slider float for you within the hour "  . . . . . I smiled and said " Ok mate your on "  The boys were struggling to be honest but they still had another hour and a half of light left to get a hook up. Four r

Light hartedly  . . . . . . . I have been accused of neglecting my pike angling friends in regards to float making. There are a few anglers I know who fish a local reservoirs for pike and perch,  so,  in response to their requests I have made my first . . . . . . .  Reversible, Glow In The Dark, Feather Inlay, Sliding Pike Pencil. Any colour combination can be used. I personally think a glow in the dark yellow and a simple black will cover 95% of conditions. This one is only a baby at around 17 grams but there are two more bigger ones that are around 30g each under construction. They are a simple shape to form using the lathe but I really enjoyed making these. Here is the finally picture. The glow in th dark shot. 😉 I hope you like it as much as I enjoyed making it. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁 TTFN Peanut If you would like to look at my handcrafted floats just hit the link. http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/01/handcrafte

Lathe Made Pike Bobber - First Effort. . . .😊

Image
This is the first float to come off my new mini lathe. Its an old style " Pike Bobber Float " for live and dead baiting. It is a steep learning curve but, at last, I feel I have something to show all of you. 😊 Cork bodied (turned by myself ) with a birch stem. Jay feather inlay with two  satelliting jungle cock feathers. Fluorescent pink paint and a brass eye. This is how it looked fresh off the lathe . . . . As I said its a steep learning curve for me: 1) Using a lathe.  2) Working with cork. Both had their challenges but a feel I have come out of the other side with a pretty good effort. With a little more practise I feel I can get this pattern looking a much better. This is how it looks now. What do you think ? 😊 Any constructive criticism is always welcome. Until the next time . . .   TTFN . . . . Peanut. If you would like to look at all of the hand crafted floats I make pleas
