Pike Slider - A Manchester Christening.

Image
Today I was heading to an SFA section of the Rochdale Canal, not to fish but to deliver a pair of Pike Sliders to their new owner.😁 http://purplepeanut007.blogspot.co.uk/2017/10/large-revesable-sliding-feather-inlay.html?m=1 I know this section of the the canal reasonable well as I used to work right next to it but I have never fished it for Pike. I arrived at around three o'clock and met Karol and Lee both experienced Pikers compared to me . .  . . . . Lol so I decided to hang around and get some tips off my new friends. 😁 Karol did not mess about and changed his old pike pencil to one of his new Glow In The Dark Pike Sliders and got to work. " Hang around here Mike and I will have a picture of a pike and the new slider float for you within the hour "  . . . . . I smiled and said " Ok mate your on "  The boys were struggling to be honest but they still had another hour and a half of light left to get a hook up. Four r

Pretty Crucians On A Sneaky Lifter

Image
John Derbyshire has been promising to take me on one of his local pits for a bit of Crucian Carp fishing for some time now. So we organised to meet on Bank Holiday Monday. When I arose from my pit in the morning I gave John a call but . . . . . . no answer !!!!!!!!!! I didn't panic . . . . .as his phone went straight to voice mail so I new his phone had ran out of juice. My phone started  to buzz about a mile from our rendezvous point I pulled the car over and grabbed my phone. . . . . It was John. " I'm so sorry mate. My phone has ran out of juice so I over slept. I can be there  in 20 minutes " !!!!!!! " Hahaha . . . . No worries John. Me and my old man will wait for you " True to his word 20 minutes later Johns van comes around the corner. " Alright boys came a jovial greeting from John" A quick visit to the tackle shop and we were on our way to the pit. John had " Bigged Up " these small pits and couldn't

A Sneaky Lifter Special . 😉

Image
I have up  graded my . . . . " Sneaky Lifters " People say its the little things that make all the difference and I believe it is true with regards to my Sneaky Lifter Floats. I have replaced some of my black silk to a finer grade and also replaced some of it with metallic gold. The foats that have a yellow segment also glow in the dark. 😊  I think it is quite striking but I will let you decide for your selves. " Sneaky Lifters "  are designed for shy biters where a little finesse is required and used in conjuction with a variation of the lift method. I have watched big roach hover over my hook bait, suck up the maggot and drain it dry without so much as a dip registering on the float. " Sneaky Lifters combat this by  fishing at dead depth with a no 8 about an inch and a half away from the hook.  This will indicate a bite by either going under or lifting sightly as the fish sucks up the bait from the lake bed.

" The Irwell Stick " My Favourite Float of All

Image
" The Irwell Stick " I have caught more fish on this float than any other !!!!!!  This is a simple looking float but probably the most versatile float I use. Its main us is for shallow, pacey runs on a river. Great for all species when using all but the biggest of hook baits. Great for fishing down the side on commercials or poking your rod through the trees when stalking carp. This float is definitely the first pattern in my tackle box. Its "Castermans " favourite to.  😊 This set is bound for a life winding down the river Douglas. I also have a set of large Irwell sticks on the go. I will post when complete. 😊 Here are some " Irwell Stick " caught fish. 😊 Not all my fish btw......lol Until the next time . . . . .
