Purplepeanut007 PP007 FLOAT MAKING & FISHING ADVENTURES - THE RIVER IRWELL AND BEYOND.

 Morning all, I had an hour & a half window to wet a line this week and proptly took it. I was making a rig for a pal, Dan, returning to fishing after a long lay off. We were off to the local commercial to try and squeeze a few small carp out before the light faded. Both of us were fishing off the rid tip or in the margins on paste. This will be the first time Dan has fished on his own in the UK for years so my fingers and toes were well and truely crossed for him. We didnt have to wait long. I was in first with Dan close behind me. All caught on dibbers, on the deck an later on in the session up in the water. Should be back on next week. Tight lines everyone.  Morning all, My fishing mojo has dissapeared once more, I have not been since last September!!!!!! With the clocks going forward and extra time one the bank I chose to go to a local commercial that a friend of mine owns. Fishing the Match Lake I opted to rotate 3, close range swims at: 9 o'clock 12 o'clock 3 o'clock to give the swims a rest after catching a few fish. Float used was a small, hand made, shallow water stick float or dibber if you are fishng still waters, coupled with a Bob James Centerpin and a 15 foot Drenen DRX rod. After intoducing some micro pellets to each swim I started off on sweetcorn which produced a few small F1s but bites quickly dried up.  Next to to try was banded pellet, again, I had a few fish then the bites dried up. I was 50 minutes into a 2.5 hours session now and only had 6 fish.....and not very pleased with my performance!!!! My last bait to try was home made paste, a bait I have used more frequently, with great success over the last three...

 Morning all, Below are my staple shallow water grayling trotters for shallow river runs. The pair below take approximately 5BB. Larger dome float is for boily water and the thinner tip for more stable glides and is a little more sensitive. I have caught a few good fish on these patterns in the past. I hope you like them.  Afternoon all,   Its been a long time since I made a perch bobber. Below are a pair of  "6g Fluorescent Orange and Camo Green Perch Bobbers" Made for bigger baits such as lobbies and small to medium live baits. Morning all, Still stocking up on "Inserted Sticks" for silver fishing on the rivers. These three are constructed of balsa, carbon and wooden tips for slow running, deeper rivers. Paints used are slate grey, white and fluorescent orange with grey, pale blue, black and blush gold threads. The average weight capacity if the floats is approximately 10-12 no 4s or 2g.  Evening all, Below are my biggest stick floats to date. Both these stick floats weigh in at 16g plus, made for the Trent and other large, fast flowing rivers when searching for barbel and chub in fast water. These specialist floats would normally be too heavy for most situations, however, they will be used where most anglers would not even think of float fishing due to the powerful flow of the river. It is a very tiring method of float fishing and I'm not getting any younger so I'm getting it done before I retire...lol I have fished the method this before as a child on the River Severn using pike bungs as floats as there was nothing around even remotely suitable and caught 50 - 60lb bags of barbel and chub on bread and meat. Now I make floats I thought it would be a useful addition to a river anglers arsenal. I am very much looking forward to trying the Jumbo Barbel Sticks out before September when I head off to the Trent for a long weekend with some pals.  Hopefully get into...
