Image
Hi all, I have been busy this week adding several floats to the new..... Stone Grey Waggler collection. The bottom four are a set, the two large straight & inserted wagglers were made when free styling. Wagglers are my focus for the next few months so stay tuned for further posts I have warmed to the idea of mixing stain and paint so will be travelling down that road in the next few  months. New Stone Grey Inserted Wagglers

Image
Hi all,  Having being a little inactive of late on the float making front I have finally made or am in the process of making quite a few... New Stone Grey Inserted Wagglers. I have decided to incorporate paint and staining with  this pair. I quite like the combination. What do you think ? Paints used are fluorescent orange, white and grey stone. Threads used are... Pale blue, grey and black. I have made an extra one for my self but prefer the pair above to be honest. Mine will be use in Central Manchester this winter for roach an dace if they decide to put in an appearance. Irwell Sticks - Stream Trotting with Adam Mack

Image
Hi all, I haven't been fishing since the last time I ventured out with Adam Mack but managed an aftetnoon yesterday on a couple of intimate streams most anglers would walk past. After some previous assistance from Adam I gifted him with one of my 5 no 4  Irwell Sick Floats below..... I'm not to happy as he used it better than I did on this outing.....🤬......lol. Not the best days fishing as Adam would admit.....but caught a few and as always a good laugh in his company. The plus side with going with Adam is its always a work out for me. He pushes me the go scrambling up and down swims a mountain goat would think twice about. 😆😆😆😆😆😆 Looking for ward to the next one Adam. Always a pleasure my friend. .............  Adam Mack putting an Irwell Stick to work on an intimate stream we fished yesterday Irwell Stick Floats. Prime Irwell Stick  territory. No lumps for me on this occasion but Adam had a couple just to show me what these stream can produce. TTFN   Peanut.   If you

Mustard Yellow Inserted Wagglers With Vibrant Red Whippings

Image
Hi all, I was tidying up one of my many storage boxes when I came across three,  un-finished, "Mustard Inserted Wagglers" & a single "Mustard Straight Waggler" I vaguely remember preparing and painting them but for who and why god only knows....I must be getting old....lol. !!!!!!!!!!!! (See, its's not just you Graham Beddow....lol) 😆 Anyway, I decided to finished them off.  I palyed around with a few different thread colours but struggle to settle on a particular one. ( I have struggled a few times with this earthy yellow colour) I eventually settled on crimson as the main thread used in conjuction with black and gold. I was still not sure about the thread colours until I saw them varnished. Varnishing tenda to add another dimension to the colours, paints as well but I am happy I made the right choice after seeing the finished articles. Several more of the inserted versions are on the go and should be finished in two weeks time. TTFN   Peanut.   If you wo

Stepped Boddied Wagglers In Pearlescent Burgundy

Image
Hi all, Sorry these are late Andy.  I had a small issue with the sun, heat and an idiot leaving them in a plastic bag in the car  (me) 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 The paints film had reconstituted, softened, therefore stuck to one another in the plastic bag. Pulling them apart resulted in the paint being ripped off at various locations. (should of got a picture of that but was more interested in getting them back to normal) With a little tinkering I was able to bring them back to their former glory. Two for Andy, two for me. Andys are the ones with a red band on the base stem. Materials were brass, walnut and balsa. Paints used were pearlescent burgundy, cream, fluorescent red, orange and  glow in the dark yellow. Threads used were black, scarlet and burgundy. Andy will be using his at his new local club lake. I will be using mine here for tench & bream and general coarse species in the deeper parts of this small lake. Good for a first attempt but a few little improvements will happen with the

" The Mack Man " Exploring Pastures New.

It's been a few years since I last went on an adventure with Adam Mack and what a day that was !!!!!! Grayling.....Link Below. https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2018/09/chasing-ladies-with-adam-mack_2.html?m=1 Today would have a lot to live up to. I was putting aside the float rod for a while and trying one of Adams favourite methods....rolling meat for barbel & chub on a  1 -7g lure rod 😲😲😲😲😲 ................ The set up is simple.....1 SSG, 1 swivel, 1 hook.  It does not get much simpler than that now does it !!!!!!! The river was crystal clear and would look barren to most people.....we just stood their for a few moments, waiting for a tell tail shadow to ghost across some of the sandy patches on the bottom of the river bed. "There Mike there....do you see it.....its a big barbel... and a chub..... I hitting that straight away". With an expert flick of the tiny lure rod the meat hit the water about six feet up stream from where the barbel was holding just un
