Paste Fishing

Image
Morning all, I had a couple of hours free after work on Monday so toddled of to the nearest pond for a spot of paste fishing, as paste and sweetcorn is the only bait I have while working away, something I have never really done much of in the past and I am definately no expert. I decided to use a lifter style bodied antennea waggler as it has a nice long slim, mult-coloured tip so I can easy see it dancing around when fish start attacking the paste. Just to be out in the countryside after work is fantastic, catching a few fish on top is tonic for the sole. Here a a few picures of a modest 25lb plus catch consiting of Mirrors, F1's, roach and bream using a big lump of paste on a size 12 hook. I have a lot to learn about paste fishing, but we are all still learning arn't we. Any paste fishing advice welcome. 😊 Until the next time………. Peanut. Inserted Stick Floats in Olive Green with Carbon Stems.

Image
Morning all, Amongst other things, I have been stocking up on stick floats ready for the rivers openning on the 16th of June. I haven't put as much effort into going fishing the last couple years due to a number of factors which I wont go into. This season is going to be different, less float fiddling and more fishing is this years moto !!!!!!! I have plenty of inserted sticks for silver fishing now. I just need a few more Stepped Domed Sticks for fishing over depth on faster, deeper rivers and I am set. Slow running, deeper rivers will be the mainstay for this coming season and I have at least to hit, two at home and rwo at work but, as you all know, this can change depending on what kind of summer and autum we are going to have.. Below are some more .... "Inserted Stick Floats in Olive Green with Carbon Stems". The larger three are aproxolimately 10 no 4s with the shorter float coming in at 8 no 4s. All the stick floats below are in olive green, white and fluorescent o...

Smash and Grab Morning Tench Raid.

Image
Afternoon all,  I haven't been fishing since before Christmas !!!!!! but this morning I felt the urge for a tench, so, grabbed some kit and hi-tailed it off to a new tench lake I have just been informed about. My float was a 4BB boddied, lollypop lifter, ideal for short to medium distance in shallowish water. Within 30 minutes, after plenty of bits and a few ide I was into a good tench....a very good one infact but unfortunately, after a few seconds it slipped the hook.... and left me swearing loudly at anyone or thing in the immediate vicinity!!!!! 😆😆😆😆😆 I was gutted.  That was a belting fish!!!! I won't lie.....the next two hours was a struggle.  I was picking up a few bits every know and then but nothing much was happening and I was ready for home. I call off a good friend persuaded me to give it another half an hour....good job really!!!!!!  A change to double worm tipped with red maggot got me into my second tench hook up of the session. I made no mist...

Inserted Alloy Stick Floats

Image
Morning all, I have continued to make more of the above as I know they will get used once the openning of the river season is iminant. One is very silimlar to the first set of three made for the Casterman, oak stained with black red and gold whippings with an alloy stem and a fluorescent orange tip. The other stick has an inlay, painted in chocolate brown with maroon, red, black and gold whippings plus a red fluorescent tip, also with an alloy stem. Booth sticks take around 10 no 4s  (2g) Hopefully, I will be bagging some of these beauties on the inside line when the season opens up. 😊 Until the next time………. TTFN Peanut. Double, Stepped, Inserted Wagglers With Fine Tips

Image
Morning all, The next float is a double stepped version of the previous pattern called a..... "Double Stepped, Inserted Waggler with A Fine Tip" for silver fishing. https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2024/12/stepped-inserted-wagglers-with-fine-tips.html Weight capacity for the new, green float is approximately 5 BB plus or 2.0 g....ish. I have finish one out of two floats and have taken a picture of the previous pattern to illistrate the differences between the two floats. (The new one has another step and is slightly larger) Both patterns will work equally well I, personally, just prefere the latest float. I shall be trying both these out when after stillwater roach in the coming months I have two main uses for these floats.  The first will be standard on the drop fishing in the summer months in ponds and lakes use smaller baits. The second will be once again, for on the drop fishing but this time on rivers.  Once finished the self cocking dart version of this patter...
