Mini Crimson Avons

Image
Hi all, I have been away from float making for a few weeks due to work commitments so haven't completed as many projects as I wood have liked but I have managed to finish this set of ......... "Mini Crimson Avons With Hard Wood Stems" The floats above are for my locol River Irwell when its low and the bites are shy. Weight capacity just shy of 5BB.  These will be a must have in my box for shallow bitting silvers when fishing my local spate river. I hope you like them. .................................... PS: Below is  size comparison compared to the 4AAA floats I have made. The grey & green floats are seconds that Casterman has had a claim in for a while......lol. Enjoy my friend 😊😊😊😊😊 TTFN   Peanut.   If you would like to look at my handcrafted floats click on the link below.      https://purplepeanut007.blogspot.com/2017/01/handcrafted-floats-and-fishing.html?m=1       Join our club......Its FREE  !!!!!!!  http://salfordfriendlyanglers.co.uk/join/

Avons-4AAA in Hunter Green.

Image
Hi all, These are the last of the 2021 floats to be finished. 4 AAA avons this time in classic..... " Hunter Green"  ðŸ˜Š I have made these for Salford Pete and myself. I'm trying to get the old man to do a little trotting again. 😉 I'm going to take him and my son in law Craig on a little trip, for Craig it will be the first time fishing so hopefully I will be able to get a few fish on the bank for them. I may do a little rod race for just the three of us to spice it up a little, it will hopefully get us all bankside together more often as well. Stained Avons- 5AAA

Image
Hi all, I'm still on the Avons.... These are heavier versions of the first I have made.  Taking approximately 5AAA this set of five floats have been a joy to make. I really like these and have already christened the smaller model. As previously paints used were pastle yellow, white and fluorescent orange. Threads used were black and yellow. As I have said I christened the smaller version last week catching a River Irwell P.B. grayling of 1lb 1oz.....a good fish for the river present. Hopefully I will be trying these out for roach on the ribble soon.....stay tuned. Various Hardwood Stemmed Avons

Image
Hi all, I decided to go right back to basics with this set of floats. Believe it or not the avon is a float I hardly ever use, leaning towards stick float fishing instead. Below are several different colours of my  "Hardwood Stemmed Avon Floats" There is always something attractive about simplicity if you can get it right and hopefully, with this batch I have done just that. I have made the first four of these floats in different colours as I have not settled for a standard colour yet but I am leaning towards both the light grey and  mustard. All the floats below have dark, harwood stems, orange fluorescent tips, black whippings and a painted, coloured body. All are approximately 4AAA/ 3.2 gram.  TTFN   Peanut.
